[The level of blood insulin and the glycolytic activity of the blood in patients with ischemic heart disease].

Disorders of the glucose tolerance test (diabetic and borderline glycemic curves) were revealed in 49% of patients with ischemic heart disease. These patients showed hyperinsulinemia. The glycolytic activity of the blood, especially in patients with circulatory insufficiency, was increased evidencing lagging behind of the aerobic phase of carbohydrate oxidation from the glycolytic splitting. Disorders of the carbohydrate metabolism in these patients is caused by relative insulin insufficiency and tissue hypoxia.
