[The contour characteristics of the mucous membrane of the hard palate as dependent on the form of its osseous base].

Analyzes the relief of the hard palate mucosa, depending on the shape of osseous base. Presents data on the prevalence of various morphological shapes of lateral folds in the hard palate mucosa and the levels of their disposition in the ipsiloid, ellipsoid, and parabolic osseous base of the hard palate. Demonstrates the possibility of using the characteristics of the hard palatal mucosa relief as an extra test for personality identification by the oral status.

[The possibilities for simulation in the expert assessment of the circumstances of the causes of head trauma].

Some aspects of simulation experiments in forensic medicine are discussed, specifically those in studies of biomechanics and expert evaluation of the probable circumstances of a head injury caused by falling on a plane from a standing posture. Based on mathematical simulation and multifactorial analysis of physical parameters characterizing the process of falling (inertia, angular velocity, etc.), the authors prove the possibility of differentiating between spontaneous falling of a victim and falling caused by an outer force, and estimating the value of this force.

[Evaluation of medical care quality in cases with health damage infliction leading to unfavorable outcomes].

Discusses modern approaches to evaluation of the quality of medical care in cases when civil action is brought against medical people for inflicting damage to health leading to unfavorable outcomes. Emphasizes the need in developing a special organization model of medical care quality and efficacy control system, which should be based on universal principles, notions, and adequate tests and evaluations.

[Expert evaluation of damage to health in dental injuries].

Discusses problems in forensic medical expert evaluation of the severity of dental injuries. Analyzes the classification of dental injuries and criteria for their expert evaluation. Considers some disputable and contradictory problems in expert interpretation of dental injuries involving complete loss of teeth and evaluation of injuries in subjects with maxillodental diseases. Offers approaches to solution of these problems.

Forensic Dentistry↗

[Forensic medical expert evaluation in connection with civil actions of patients complaining of improper dental care].

The authors discuss questions facing forensic medical experts in connection with civil "medical" actions. The questions are classified as common and private. Expert evaluations of correspondence of the scope and quality of dental care are offered as the base for analysis of these problems within the framework of civil legislation. The data evidence efficiency of forensic medical expert evaluations in civil legal procedure and the significance of forensic medical service in the solution of problems of quality and efficiency of medical (including dental) care of the population.

[Principles of records and coding causes of death as a result of craniocerebral injury].

Discusses modern requirements to coding of death causes in cases of craniocerebral injury in accordance with the 10th revision of International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Health-Related Problems (ICD-10). Offers the ways to fill in medical certificates of death with consideration for the items of ICD-10 and classification of craniocerebral injuries.

[Criteria for expert evaluation of mechanism of lower jaw fractures].

A short analysis of 565 cases of fractures of the lower jaws is presented in the article with due regard for a mechanism of their formation. Criteria of the expert evaluation of an impact point and direction of action of a traumatic force are depicted with due respect for a type, specific features and fracture location.

[A clinico-morphological analysis of the traumatic substrates to cerebral injuries in different inertial loads on the brain].

The relationships between the inert tension of the head and the morphologic substrates of brain injuries were under study. A comparative clinical and morphologic analysis of lethal contusion and axonal injuries underlie this investigation. Differences in the neurologic semeiotics and CT data in such injuries are presented. The authors discuss the mechanisms of the physical processes in the skull, resulting in focal and diffuse injuries of the brain. Quantitative assessment of the traumatic cerebral substrates is given and relations of these parameters to the conditions of the head trauma (the direction of the external injurious factor action) and the clinical picture are shown. The results of this study may be useful in establishing some circumstances of craniocerebral injuries.

[Evaluation of disorders in the liquor circulation in craniocerebral trauma].

The modern methods of complex examinations of the brain in craniocerebral trauma are addressed and the possibilities of the topographic-and-anatomic substantiation in the forensic-medical (expert) evaluation of traumatic lesions of liquor-circulation structural elements are elucidated in the paper. Morphometry data characterizing the dislocation manifestations are presented with respect to the dislocation intensity and severity.

[Assessment of unfavorable outcomes of dental care provoked by the patient].

Some causes of ineffective dental care because of the patient's negligence were analyzed. In 16 cases the patients ignored recommendations of the dentist and missed visits to the doctor. As a result, the patients developed complications leading to esthetic dissatisfaction, prolonged treatment, repeated prosthetic management.
