Individual differences in self-reported sleep variable correlations among nightmare sufferers.

Previous research has suggested relationships between anxiety and nightmares and between nightmares and other sleep difficulties by relating measures across Ss. In the present experiment, students who reported two or more nightmares per week and who were participating in a treatment study recorded anxiety ratings and sleep observations for 8 weeks. Correlational analyses of the diurnal measures revealed within-S support for both relationships. Individual differences in the pattern of significant correlations and their treatment implications are discussed.

Comparison of three training procedures for teaching social responses to developmentally disabled adults.

Three developmentally disabled adults were taught three peer interactive responses--verbailization, recreation, and cooperation--by three training procedures: (a) modeling, (b) instruction and feedback, and (c) modeling, instructions, and feedback. All three training procedures increased all three responses, but the most effective procedure was modeling, instructions, and feedback. In the two modeling conditions, videotapes of nonretarded adults were used, demonstrating the feasibility of this method for teaching retarded persons.
