[Infiltrating syringoadenoma of the nipple: a new case].

Infiltrating syringomatous adenoma of the nipple is composed of small sweat ducts and solid strands, surrounded by desmoplastic stroma and preferentially develops in the superficial breast tissue and specially in the nipple. This particular and exceptional lesion deserves to be acknowlegded by pathologists concerned with breast pathology since this tumor mimics grade 1 invasive breast ductal carcinoma.

Immunoexpression of E-cadherin and beta-catenin correlates to survival of patients with hepatocellular carcinomas.

Expression of E-cadherin (E-cad) and -catenin ( -cat) was investigated immunohistologically in 91 cases of excised hepatocellular carcinomas. Immunodectection was altered in 56% of tumours for E-cad and in 30.8% for -cat. Downregulation of E-cad and -cat correlated with the size of tumours, and high nuclear grade, but only E-cad alteration correlated with the mitotic index. Alterations of E-cad and -cat expression correlated with survival. Although E-cad and -cat immunodetections were independent prognostic factors, their prognostic value was lower than that of current clinicopathological parameters.

[Prognostic value of E-cadherin expression in hepatocellular carcinoma].

Expression of E-cadherin (E-cad) was investigated immunohistologically in 91 cases of operated hepatocellular carcinomas. An alteration of E-cad immunodetection was found in 56% of tumours. These alterations were correlated with histopathologic features of prognostic value including tumour size (> 3 cm), high nuclear grade and mitotic index. Patients with down-regulated E-cad expression had statistically significant shorter survival than the others. Although E-cad immunodetection was an independent prognostic factor, the Cox multivariate analysis showed that its prognostic value was low when compared to other prognostic factors.

[Minimal lipid anomalies in a group of men with early coronary disease compared to a control group].

A group of 27 men with early coronary disease (mean age: 52 years) with cholesterol levels below 6.45 mmol/l and triglycerides levels below 2.3 mmol/l, who underwent a coronary angiography, is compared with a control group of 18 men (CG) with normal angiography. The only significant differences between the two groups are: a triglycerides levels slightly higher in the CM group (1.55 + 0.4 mmol/l) vs 1.18 +/- 0.37 mmol/l, p 0.001), a HDL-cholesterol level slightly lower in the CM group (1.08 +/- 0.19 mmol/l vs 1.26 +/- 0.21 mmol/l, p 0.01) and an Apo AI/Apo B ratio slightly lower in the CM group (1.02 +/- 0.24 vs 1.18 +/- 0.17, p 0.005). In the CM group, 21 patients in 27 present a lipid abnormality requiring, according to the European consensus recommendations, the prescription of hygieno-dietetic measures. In the CM group, 10 patients in 18 present a minimal lipid abnormality, also requiring hygieno-dietetic measures. These results are compared with the recommendations of the European consensus.

Desmoid tumour of the breast.

We describe the clinical and pathological features of a case of desmoid tumour of the breast. The lesion was approximately 3.0 cm in greatest dimension. Histologically, it had infiltrating borders and extended to the pectoral muscle. The differential diagnosis is discussed.
