[Surgery of pathologic fractures of the metacarpal bones in children].

The experience with the use of a method of bone plasty developed by the authors in the treatment of 13 children with a pathologic fracture of metacarpal bones is summarized. In follow up of from 1 to 6 years, the complete reconstruction of a transplant with replacing the defects by bone tissue which do not differ in structure from the own one was noted. A hand function restored to the full volume. No impairment in growth was noted.

[Osteoplastic operations in the treatment of tumors of finger phalanx bones in children].

In the article is proposed the method of treatment of finger phalanx tumors in children, localized in the area of growth zones. By application of the proposed method the authors operated on 12 children aged 3-15 years in connection with the benign tumors of finger phalanx bones. Long-term results were followed up with all patients during 1-5 years. There was achieved complete restoration of the anatomic structure of bone; no growth delay was observed. Finger functions are completely restored.

[Complications of hematogenous osteomyelitis of the long bones].

On the basis of clinical observations and statistical processing of the case records of 1549 children who were treated for acute and chronic forms of hematogenous osteomyelitis, the authors revealed the causes of transition of the acute process to the chronic form in the different long bones and orthopedic complications.

[Disability caused by hematogenic osteomyelitis in children].

The authors analyse the causes of functional and morphological disorders of the locomotor apparatus in 172 patients who had suffered from complicated forms of acute hematogenous osteomyelitis in childhood 2 to 36 years age. They accentuate the necessity for prognosing orthopedic deformities in complicated osteomyelitis processes following a protracted course in a growing organism. Analysis of the cause of disability makes it possible to elaborate stage-by-stage rehabilitation.

[Effect of the osteomyelitic process on bone growth in children and its correction].

The article is devoted to the results of the treatment of 264 children with hematogenic osteomyelitis. The analysis of the changes of the extremities length growth depending on the children's age, the form of the disease, the localization of the osteomyelitic process and the administered treatment is presented. The authors have proposed a new method of stimulating the growth of the shortened tubular bones in cases of difference in the length of the extremities up to 3 cm in the children of the younger age group.

[Peace-time gunshot wounds in children].

The authors have analyzed specific features of the clinical course, diagnosis and treatment of gunshot wounds in 34 children. The surgical treatment of gunshot wounds in peace-time is considered to be sparing and complex.
