[Thrombocytopenic diathesis after gentamicin--case report].
A case is described of gentamicin induced thrombocytopenic diathesis in 65-year old woman. Pathogenesis of drug induced thrombocytopenia is briefly discussed as well as outlines of treatment.

[Temporal arteritis as a cause of a terrible headache].
Two patients with temporal arteritis are reported in whom terrible headache was the predominant symptom of the disease. Both of them improved after prednisone 60 mg daily in the initial dose. The diagnosis and the treatment of giant cell arteritis are discussed.

[Treatment of intra-abdominal abscesses by percutaneous drainage under ultrasonographic control].
Four cases of intraabdominal abscesses were treated by percutaneous drainage under USG control. Three patients were cured, one died of the underlying disease of exceptionally severe course. Difficulties encountered in this method are discussed.

[Ultrasound monitoring of bone lesions in the treatment of Ewing's sarcoma].
In the paper, a patient suffering from Ewing's sarcoma is presented. She was treated with chemo- and radiotherapy. As one of the methods of monitoring of the course of treatment and follow-up after finishing it has been ultrasound examination. In the ultrasound examination I have observed gradual diminishing of the tumor, up to it's complete disappearance. In the bone there have remained only two small hyper-echogenic focuses not changing their shape or size. At the beginning in Doppler examination a large arterial flow was found in the tumor, having low vessel resistance. In the course of treatment systolic velocity decreased and vessel resistance increased up to complete disappearance of the flow in the visible small hyper-echogenic focuses in the bone.

[The importance of combining ultrasonography of the carotid artery bifurcation and Doppler imaging of cerebral arteries].
The USG of carotid bifurcation and Doppler imaging of cranial arteries were performed in 74 patients with ischaemic stroke. The Doppler image as well as USG were found to be helpful for prognosis. Arteriosclerotic USG changes corresponded more often with the neurological syndrome in severely ill patients (at discharge from hospital). Also reduction of flow in medial cerebral artery was significantly more often in these patients in the first hours of the illness. In thrombosis of the first part of the internal carotid artery only the succeeding image can indicate it (2 cases). Arteriography only can demonstrate artery tortuosity (1 case).
