Long-term ventilation in restrictive ventilatory disorders.
Long-term ventilation (LTV) had its beginning with restrictive ventilatory disorders. Today, LTV is predominately represented by noninvasive ventilation (NIV). Invasive ventilation was used for a long time but is now usually restricted for selected patients in which NIV fails.
