[The efficacy of combined chemotherapy in lymphogranulomatosis].

Successive use of cyclic polychemotherapy according to the CVPP scheme before and after x-ray therapy made it possible to reach pronounced anticancer effect in the majority out of 58 patients with lymphogranulomatosis. It is recommended that the given treatment method be employed on a broader scale including the treatment of patients with the local disease patterns.

[Treatment and prognosis of recurrences of lymphosarcoma].

Short- and long-term results of various methods of chemotherapy of 547 adult lymphosarcoma patients with tumor recurrences were analyzed. Therapeutic tactics and prognosis were determined mainly by a morphological type of lymphosarcomas.

[Prognostic factors in lymphosarcoma].

A comparative analysis of the long-term results of treatment of 709 lymphosarcoma patients has shown that the main prognostic factor determining the patients's survival was a morphological tumor type. Therapeutic policy with regard to prognostic factors was proposed for lymphosarcomas. Lymphosarcomas of a high degree of malignancy required intensive therapy using cycle polychemotherapy, whereas monochemotherapy was recommended for patients with lymphosarcomas of a low degree of malignancy. Treatment of stage I-II mediastinal lymphosarcomas should be very intensive and prolonged.

[Prognostic value of the initial remission during chemotherapy of patients with lymphosarcoma].

A study of the results of the first course of chemotherapy of 443 previously untreated patients with lymphosarcoma pointed to the predictive value of the extent and duration of the first remission, particularly in cases of blastic forms of lymphosarcoma. It was found that no significant increase in survival time can be obtained unless remission is complete. No significant difference in survival time was observed in cases of partial remission or ineffective primary therapy.

[Pathological anatomy of Lennert's lymphoma].

Characterization of Lennert's lymphoma morphological substrate is given on the basis of analysis of 32 biopsies (from 22 patients) and 6 autopsy cases studied histologically, histochemically and immunomorphologically. Morphological features of a progressing disease and transformation into the immunoblastic lymphosarcoma are described. The "prelymphomatous" nature of Lennert's lymphoma is suggested taking into consideration morphofunctional characteristics of the infiltrate cells, transitory properties of peculiar morphological changes and a frequent outcome into the immunoblastic lymphosarcoma of a B-cell genesis.

[Effectiveness of various methods of chemotherapy of lymphosarcoma].

Different methods of poly- and monochemotherapy applied to the treatment of 601 lymphosarcoma patients admitted to the All-Union Cancer Research Center, Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR, over the recent years have been studied and compared. The treatment results have been analyzed in accordance with the morphological pattern of lymphosarcomas and the degree of tumor spreading. The most efficacious methods for drug treatment of recurrent lymphosarcomas have been defined.

[Morphological factors in the prognosis of the treatment results in prostatic cancer].

Investigators from the Research Institute of Oncology and Radiology (Kyrgyzstan) from 1988 to 1994 have conducted a randomized trial entering 122 patients with prostatic cancer. 44 patients received radiation treatment (group 1), 43 patients in addition to radiation were given chemotherapy and estrogens (group 2), 35 patients received drugs and estrogens (group 3). A complete response was registered in 80 (65.5%) patients. 84.2% and 69.8% of them survived 3 and 5 years, respectively. Of 30 patients 24.5%) with partial response 3- and 5-year survival was recorded in 82.8 and 57.3%, respectively. Morphological examination of transrectal prostatic biopsies 3-72 months after the treatment stated the existence of tumor pathomorphosis and unchanged tumor in 111(29.7%) and 42(11.2%) samples. It was found that the above morphological changes had developed throughout 72 months. Their intensity was the greatest within the first after-treatment year. Long-term outcomes proved better in those patients who had no residual tumor and in those who had tumor pathomorphosis during aftertreatment year 1.
