[Renal hydatid cyst in children: report of 6 cases].

Echinococcosis or hydatid cyst disease of the kidney is extremely rare in children and constitutes only 2-4% of all cases of hydatid disease. We present six pediatric case of hydatid cyst of the kidney. The presentation is a cystic space occupying lesion of the kidney. Three patients have another involvement (lung, liver, and brain). Several diagnostic methods are available, ultrasonography may be sufficient. Surgical conservative treatment is still necessary, range from excision of the cyst. Significant surgical morbidity can be expected.

[Total nephrectomy in children: 11 years of experience in 80 cases].

Nephrectomy in childhood is an ultimate indication. It is realised in case of severe deterioration of the renal function or neoplastic affection of the kidney. We report a retrospective study on a series of 80 patients. Mean age was 5 years with extremes from 2 months to 14 years. Abdominal mass, pain, infection and haematuria were the mostly encountered revealing symptoms. The main aetiology was nephroblastoma. No laparoscopic nephrectomy was realised. Follow-up was uneventful except for the troubles existing prior to surgery.

[Pediatric vesical lithiasis. 70 case reports].

The study focuses on 70 vesicals lithiasis, with a sample consisting of 60 boys (86%) and ten girls (14%). The age varies from one year to 14 years. The revealing signs are dominated by mictional troubles in 47 cases (67%), macroscopic hematurie in 26 cases (37%), the pyurie in 12 cases (17%) and acute retention of urine in 7 cases (10%). The most frequent germs are the staphylococcus aureus with 28% of cases, the protéus mirabilis with 24% of cases and the Echerichia coli with 24% of the cases. Associated malformations were observed in 9% of the cases. The treatment was essentially surgical (99%). The evolution was simple in 97% of the cases.

[Anterior urethral duplication in a male child. A case report].

Urethra duplication is a rare anomaly with numerous anatomic variations. These fall into four main groups: epispadiac, hypospadiac, fusiform, and Y-type. We report on one case of sagittal incomplete hypospadiac anterior duplication of the urethra. Surgical repair consisted of incision of the septum between the two urethras and hypospadias repair at the same setting. Follow-up was characterized by the occurrence of some complications.

[Congenital urethrocele in children. A case report].

Congenital urethrocele is a fairly rare disease in children. The authors report the case of a 9-year-old child presenting with a penoscrotal mass. Pressure on the mass produced urine. The diagnosis of urethrocele was established by ultrasonography and cystourethrography. Urethroplasty was successfully performed.

[Polyps of the posterior urethra in children. Apropos of a case].

Posterior urethral polyp is a rare disease, predominantly affecting boys. The authors report the case of an 10-month-old boy admitted to hospital with acute urine retention. The diagnosis of polyp was established on cystourethrography, ultrasonography and endoscopy. The polyp was resected via a bladder incision after failure of transurethral resection. Posterior urethral polyp is a benign tumour whose clinical presentation is dominated by signs of lower urinary tract obstruction. Cystourethrography and ultrasonography confirm the diagnosis and assess the repercussions on kidneys and bladder. Endoscopy has a double role: diagnostic and therapeutic.

[Reconstruction of the penis after necrosis due to circumcision].

Total necrosis of the penis is a very serious complication of circumcision with an electrical scalpel. Reconstruction of the penis was achieved by mobilization of the corpora cavernosa and detachment from the ischiopubic rami, which was then placed in a scrotal tunnel to avoid recurrent adhesion to ischiopubic rami and to ensure skin cover of the penis. After a follow-up of 6 months, this child urinated with a good stream and presented spontaneous erections.

[Isolated retroperitoneal hydatid cyst. Apropos of a case].

This is a report of a rarely observed localisation of hydatid cyst: the retroperitoneal space. The hypotheses of pathogenesis advanced are reviewed and the interest of intravenous urography and ultrasonography in the diagnosis is emphasized. Surgery the only treatment, consists of partial resection of the cyst.
