Three adolescent patients with severe seizure disorders were treated with phenacemide. All three patients showed elevated serum creatinine and normal blood urea nitrogen values while on phenacemide. Simultaneous urea and creatinine clearance studies performed on each patient demonstrated normal urea clearances and decreased creatinine clearances. Inulin clearance performed in one patient was normal. The medication was discontinued in two of the patients because of co-existing neutropenia. Serum creatinine values returned to normal after phenacemide treatment was terminated. The elevation in serum creatinine values with phenacemide appears to be dose related, reversible, and unrelated to impairment of glomerular filtration.

An outbreak of acute crural myalgia in children is reported. The severe calf pain followed an influenza-like episode, with subsequent complete recovery. Laboratory studies in most cases showed elevated creatine phosphokinase and SGOT values, with a low peripheral white blood cell count. Electromyographic studies were normal. Results of one muscle biopsy were normal. This postviral myalgia is a distinctive syndrome only recently being recognized in the United States.
The findings in three children with ocular palsies are reported in this paper. Two had insulin-requiring diabetes and one demonstrated only an abnormal I.V. glucose tolerance test. In the first patient the condition resolved in four weeks; in the second it had not fully resolved after 21 months, and in the third patient surgery was required for correction after seven months. We suggest that any child who develops a sudden ocular palsy should be examined for diabetes mellitus.
