[Deep venous thrombosis related to cranioencephalic injury].

The clinical onset of cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is very variable and the causes that may lead to its development are also quite numerous. Although characteristic CT diagnostic signs have been described, in most cases only nonspecific findings are present and angiography is required to confirm the diagnosis. The prognosis is variable. Classically, the mortality is high when the deep venous system is involved. We report a male with CVT involving Galen's vein and its major tributary vessels, who had a favorable outcome with heparin therapy and drugs for cerebral edema. We discuss the etiologic factors in this patient, the characteristic neuroradiologic findings, and their evolution during the course of therapy.

[Applied anatomy for the radiologic and computed tomography study of the paranasal sinuses].

The current diagnosis by images has a significant importance in the medical and/or surgical treatment of the sinusal incidences due to its great sensibility to detect local pathological signs, their limits and neighboring relations. These data are of unvaluable importance at the moment of a therapeutical decision and should be based upon common interests among otorrhinolaringologists and neuroradiologists, speaking the common language given by a firm and shared knowledge of regional anatomy. This presentation is based on the comparison between drawings which show the essential anatomical data and the computed tomography findings, supplying the necessary technical data to obtain veracious images which coincide with the surgeons' angle of view in the direct as well as in the endoscopic approach.
