[Temporary urinary derivations: use of the Kehr T tube].

The authors present 10 cases of obstructive uropathy, 8 caused by lithiasis and 2 by retroperitoneal tumours, in which, due to the chronic nature of the processes and to the intense periureteral fibrosclerosis in the place of the stone, temporary derivation of the urine was advisable. After having used several kinds of derivations (nephrostomies, pyelostomies, free ureteral probes), they use Kehr's T tube and comment upon the advantages and benefits obtained with this kind of derivation.

[Mixed-nucleus renal calculi].

We made a crystallographic analysis of 87 mixed-nucleus stones and found 4 groups of stones of this kind, which are as follow: urico-oxalic, oxalico-uric, phosphato-oxalic and oxalic-phosphatic. We did not find any mixed-nucleus, urico-phosphatic or phosphatico-uric stones and we explain this fact according to the known lithogenic, metabolic mechanisms, in which urinary pH has an important function.

[Clinical behavior of mixed nucleus reno-ureteral calculi].

We made a statistical study, by means of a computer, of 87 crystallographically-analysed stones, corresponding to 85 patients, assessing different clinical data with the mixed composition of the nucleus of these stones. We deduce that in general, the behaviour of these stones is determined by the interaction of their components, with the main substance predominating. The most significant correlations were obtained when we assessed the sex, age, urinary infection, simple or coralliform morphology of the stone, the number of stones formed, permanent, homolateral, kidney damage, overall kidney failure and procedure for removing the stone. We did not find any valid links when we compared the family record of lithiasis, affectation of the counterlateral kidney and the fact whether the stone was from the right or the left.

[Do patients want to know the truth of their disease? Study on urologic patients].

Presentation of a study, based on a survey conducted among urology patients on the extend of their wish to know the truth of their illness. The results indicate that the majority of patients DO want to know the truth, although such option is mediated by many environmental factors (such as age, sex, place of residence, education level, etc.). Some remarks are made on the lack of literature on the subject and the belief that awareness of this fact may be useful in the currently difficult physician-patient relationship.

[Renal brucelloma. A rare possible diagnosis].

Presentation of one case of renal Brucelloma in a 61-year old patient. The emphasis is placed in the pathophysiology of the condition and the extraordinary rarity of its renal location. Also an explanation is proposed for the diagnostic methodology and the dissociation, typical in chronic brucellosis, of the different serologic testing. Finally, the increased incidence experimented by this condition in our environment, which involves the reappearance of clinical pictures today thought eradicated, is pointed out.
