Educational experience in a correctional facility setting.
This article explores the experience of midwifery students who provided gynecologic and/or antepartum/postpartum care to women in the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility, a maximum-security facility for women in New York State. Care was provided for periods of time ranging from 2-4 months. During their clinical placement, students observed that additional primary care and health education issues fell within the scope of their clinical and teaching capabilities.
