Diagnostic procedures using the patient's existing dentures.

1. A technique that uses the patient's existing dentures as a valuable part of the complete denture diagnostic evaluation has been presented. 2. The procedures require no more time than most conventional diagnostic techniques and yield much more diagnostic information. 3. The patient can see and feel, to a degree, what new dentures would be like. 4. The dentist can better estimate the time needed to complete a successful denture service. 5. The procedure is beneficial to the dentist and the patient. 6. The dentist can terminate the patient with courtesy when, from the diagnostic procedures with the patient's existing dentures, it is determined that the patient cannot be satisfied.

Articulator modification for maxillofacial prosthesis.

A modification has been described which will permit the use of a face-bow for maxillofacial prosthesis construction. Any inferior positioning of the maxillary cast can now be compensated for by increasing the condylar inclination to maintain the correct relationship to the occlusal plane. By modifying an existing articulator, versatility has been achieved and the extreme cost of a new instrument has been avoided. While this design does not solve the problems encountered with maxillofacial prostheses, it does serve to make fabrication of prostheses easier for both the dental laboratory technician and the dentist.
