[Comparative evaluation of nephrotomy methods].

Four methods of nephrotomy different in the means of suturing the operation wound of the kidney were studied in experiments in dogs (1--the interrupted suture with the involvement of a wide layer of the parenchyma; 2--the interrupted V-suture with the topical picture of the vessels taken into consideration; 3--the interrupted suture with the topical picture of the vessels taken into consideration; 4--the interrupted suture with hemostasis in the wound). The advantages of the 3d and 4th techniques are shown.

[A case of cytomegalic disease of the newborn].

A generalized form of cytomegalic disease in newborns is relatively rare. According to the author's data, only one case of cytomegalia was observed during post-mortem investigations of 1724 newborns and young children. This was a full-term child which was born with jaundice, generalized petechial rash and hepatosplenomegaly. Histological investigations revealed cytomegalic cells in the lungs, liver, kidneys and parotid salivary glands; in the brain there was noted calcification of the walls of the lateral ventricles. In the stroma of organs lymphoid infiltration with proliferation of histiocytes was observed.

[The dynamics of the healing of an infected fracture of mandibular bone exposed to andekalin and kontrikal].

Infected mandibular fracture was simulated in rats. 10 percent calcium chloride solution (control) or andecalin (10 U/Kg) and contrykal (2.5000 U/kg) were administered to fracture site by vacuum electrophoresis. Histologic examination has revealed that andecalin activated the exudative phase of inflammation and decelerated the proliferative processes. A contrary effect was induced by contrykal: rapidly decreasing exudation, activation of osteoclastic resorption of necrotic bone and of osteogenesis processes.

[The periodontium in experimental bruxism].

Time course of morphologic changes in periodontal tissue was studied in 42 miniature pigs with experimental bruxism. An inflammation has developed in the marginal periodontium. At first the inflammatory infiltrate was situated under the epithelial fixation to the tooth involving destruction of the epithelial fixation and formation of pockets, inflammatory infiltrate, and granulation tissue, these destructive changes involving the lower sections of the periodontium. Signs of resorption were detectable in the dental alveolus osseous wall, cement, and dentin. The changes in the periodontal tissue described above appear to result from a complex of factors developing in experimental animals with simulated bruxism.
