A computer-aided arrangement was used to study the time function of lactate output of isolated intestinal epithelial cells in an open system. The results indicate better viability of the cells than in a closed system.
An experimental arrangement is described which allows studies of the temporal performance of enzyme reactions (also reactions of complexes of enzyme chains) under conditions of open systems. The various steady-state properties of such open systems can be recognized by measuring their input and output [1,2]. The various levels of flowing equilibria are perturbed by applying molecular modulators to the system, and the data obtained are compared to those found in closed systems. In order to prove the accuracy of the experimental configuration, the determination of Km in a one-substrate reaction is carried out in the open system, using only one concentration of substrate at various flow rates.
The distribution of lymph vessels in the human testis was investigated using ink injection methods, and light and electron microscopy. Lymph capillaries occur in the septula testis but are absent in the intertubular tissue. They consist of endothelial cells provided with an incomplete basal lamina and anchoring filaments of the adjacent connective tissue. Frequently, the endothelial cells are separated by gaps measuring up to 2 micron. The lymph capillaries of the septula testis are connected to lymph vessels in the rete testis and tunica albuginea. These vessels have occasional smooth muscle cells and valves. At the posterior margin of the testis, the network of lymph vessels merges into collecting ducts, which together with vessels derived from the rete testis are drained by the lymphatic system in the spermatic cord.

A dosage of 10 mg/kg body weight Na-salicylate has no depressive effect on uterine motility. The examination carried out intra partum in the condition of normal uterine activity support our opinion that relatively high doses of 3--5 g per day or the simultaneous administration of beta-adrenergical substances are necessary to obtain an effective tocolysis.
In the pre-ovulatory phase the absolute and relative LH increase was much greater than during the luteal phase and less pronounced in the early follicular phase of the normal cycle. FSH release was affected only during the pre-ovulatory period, where a retarded, 3- or 4-fold increase compared to basal levels was recorded. In the women taking oral contraceptives of the conventional type the first LH-RH test showed gonadotropin responses similar to those obtained during the luteal phase of the controls. The second test brought a significantly lower LH response, suggesting an increasing exogenous steroid inhibition at the pituitary level in the course of the therapeutic cycle. This inhibition seems to be reversed during the monthly tablet-free interval. A particularly small and retarded gonadotropin response was observed in patients taking Deposiston. These results are discussed as to their clinical significance.
Two hundred seventy-three infertile women with disturbances of the menstrual cycle were treated with clomiphene citrate a level of 50 or 100 mg daily for 5 days, or even--in cases of therapeutic failure--of 150 or 200 mg daily. According to the experiences of other authors the results indicate that conception can be obtained in a rate between 35 and 40%. The frequent occurence of additional factors diminishing fertility, however, reduces this relatively favorable pregnancy rate to a level of 30% under the conditions of practice. Patients with ovulatory failures, secondary amenorrhoe associated with sufficient endogenic estrogen secretion, and luteal insufficiencies respond most favorably to clomiphene citrate. If the preovulatory cervical mucus reaction is missed, the additional application of an estrogen preparation, in cases of repeated luteal phase defects the combination of clomiphene with HCG is recommended.

Ethinylestradiol sulfonate is a newly developed orally effective derivate of ethinylestradiol with depot properties produced by "Jenapharm"-GDR. This depot estrogen has been proved for its usefullness in treating menopausal syndrom. A modified Kupperman-index had been used to check the therapeutic results. The effects concerning the endometrium were examined in postmenopausal women that atrophic character of endometrium had been ensured before. Ethinylestradiol sulfonate was applicated in the following dosages: 0,015 mg/day; 0,25 mg/week; 0,5 mg/week; 1,0 mg/week; 3 mg/month. The treatment with 0,25 mg/week over a period of 4 up to 6 weeks proved to be possible and effective if we take into account the endometrial reaction and the danger of bleeding. After the removal of the uterus higher dosages can be given. Up to a dose of 1 mg/week there were not to be seen subjective side effects. Ethinylestradiol sulfonate was compared with other oral estrogens.
On the basis of our good experiences with the application of the spoon culture procedure in the quantitative bacteriological urine diagnostics, we tested the applicability of the plastic spoon in the diagnostics of vaginal mycoses. Our investigations show that the spoon culture procedure means an optimization and rationalization in mycological diagnostics due to omission of several stages of work and of the risks of transport, and due to improvement of diagnostic reliability and acceleration of the transmission of findings.
