[Study of blood and lymph in experimental myocardial ischemia and arterial hypertension].

The peripheral blood and central lymph of rats under experimental myocardial infarction was studied by means of light microscopy and electric conductivity measurement. Both hypertensive rats and animals 3 days after myocardial infarction had similar quantity of neutrophils in peripheral blood. Lymph cells count of hypertensive rats by middle lymphocytes is similar to the animals 1 day after myocardial infarction. The correlation between lymph and blood electric conductivity and its cell composition was noted.

[The effect of oxytocin on the activity of the brain serotoninergic systems in narcotic-dependent rats].

Changes in the serotonin and 5-oxyindolacetic acid contents in mitochondrial fractions of different brain structures were studied prior to and after oxytocin intraventricular microinjection in normal and drug-dependent rats. The oxytocin administration exerted different effects on serotonin metabolism in different brain structures. The drug-dependent animals showed a higher level of the brain serotonin as compared to the control. The oxytocin administration decreased hypothalamic and hippocampal serotonin levels. The oxytocin effect on the processes of drug dependence is discussed.

[The brain catecholamine system in narcotic-dependent rats under the action of oxytocin].

Intraventricular injection of oxytocin exerted a selective effect on catecholamine metabolism in microchondrial fractions of different brain formations of normal and narcotic drug-dependent animals. The drug-dependent group showed a higher level of the brain catecholamines as compared to the controls, oxytocin decreasing the catecholamine level in this group. The oxytocin modulatory role in the processes of narcotic drug-dependence, is discussed.

[The functional role of the oxytocin-sensitive hippocampal system in organizing the mechanisms of morphine addiction].

The effect of oxytocin (OXT) administration into the brain ventricles on the process of narcotic dependence formation was studied before and following hippocampal lesion. OXT was found to inhibit the process of narcotic dependence formation. The hippocampal lesion weakened the inhibitory effect. A specific hippocampal involvement in the processes of narcotic reinforcement was suggested.

[The effect of neurohypophyseal peptides on the formation of conditioned active avoidance behavior].

An injection of vasopressin and its analog into ventral hippocampus facilitated the formation of avoidance response and inhibited the behavioural habit in the process of extinction. Opposite effects occurred after administration of oxytocin and its fragment. The changes observed in the avoidance paradigms motivated by fear seem to be related to effects of the peptides under study on the processes of learning and memory.

Influence of neurohypophyseal peptides on the formation of active avoidance conditioned reflex behavior.

The role of lysine-vasopressin and oxytocin, as well as of their analog and fragment (DGAVP, desglycinamide arginine vasopressin; PLG, prolyl-leucyl-glycyl-amine), microinjected into the ventral hippocampus, in the formation and extinction of active avoidance conditioned reflex, was investigated. It was established that the introduction of lysine-vasopressin, as well as of its analog, into the hippocampus promoted the improvement of the formation of the avoidance reaction, while an inhibitory effect was elicited in the period of extinction of the skill. The opposite effects on the active avoidance reaction were obtained with oxytocin and its fragments. It is hypothesized that the observed behavioral changes in the active avoidance reaction are associated with the influence of these peptides on the processes of learning and memory.

[Low-frequency conductometry of the tissues and organs of undefined geometrical form].

The authors review potentialities of the use of the four-probe methods for measuring specific electric conductivity (SE) on biological objects. An analysis was made of the main causes of the method limitations and occurrence of errors during low-frequency measurements. As a result a design of a four-electrode conductometric set up is suggested with a purpose of measuring SE of biological objects of undefined geometrical form with a high accuracy of measurements at low frequencies. The positive effect was attained at the expense of reducing the impedance of potential electrodes at low frequencies.

[Effect of neurohypophyseal peptides on the formation of a conditioned feeding reflex in the rat].

The influence of intraperitoneal injection of vasopressin (LVP), oxytocin (OXY) and their fragments (DGAVP, PLG) on the acquisition and extinction of conditioned food reflex was studied in rats. It was found that vasopressin and its fragments had a more pronounced specific effect on the higher nervous activity of the animals. This effect consisted in impairment of the performance of the conditioned food reflex while oxytocin had a tendency to improve its performance. On the ground of the obtained data it is suggested that administration of vasopressin may facilitate the memory function only under specific environmental conditions.

[Effect of oxytocin and its antagonist microinjected into the hippocampus on the intravenous self-administration of heroin in rats].

The paper deals with the effect of oxytocin (OXT) and its antagonist--oxytocin antiserum (ANT) microinjected in the ventral hippocampus--on learning of heroin intravenous self-administration in rats. OXT weakened the processes of heroin self-administration, while ANT in contrast improved the learning. The results of the study and data analysis suggest that endogenous OXT in the ventral hippocampus is involved in the mechanisms of behavioural reactions.

[Effect of serotonin injected into the amygdaloid complex on conditioned and unconditioned alimentary reflexes and electrical brain activity in cats].

The effect of 5-OT injection into the basolateral area of the amygdala complex on conditioned and unconditioned alimentary reflexes and on the concomitant amygdala electrical activity was studied in cats. 5-OT in 100 to 200 mcg doses inhibited the reproduction of conditioned reflexes only, not affecting the unconditioned ones. Under the influence of 5-OT, generation of high-frequency burst activity by the amygdala was blocked; spatial synchronization between the visual and sensorimotor cortex, between the neocortex and the hippocampus was reduced. It is suggested that the basolateral area of the amygdala participates in the organization of conditioned reflexes, and that the serotoninergic system is involved in the neurochemical mechanisms of the inhibitory influence of this structure on the reproduction of conditioned reflexes.
