Involvement of the mandibular canal: early sign of osteogenic sarcoma of the mandible.

A case of osteogenic sarcoma of the mandible is presented. The most striking radiologic finding in this case was irregular widening of the mandibular canal, with areas of narrowing and loss of fine parallel cortical margins of the walls of the canal. These changes were accompanied by widening of the periodontal membrane of the adjoining teeth, an early sign of osteogenic sarcoma described by Garrington and colleagues, and loss of lamina dura of the same teeth and one additional adjacent tooth.

Bilateral multiple ureteral diverticula diagnosed after ileal loop procedure: report of a case and review of the literature.

We report a case of multiple diverticula of the ureter. The clinical and radiological findings of the previously reported 41 cases, including our own, are analyzed, and the microscopic findings of the condition are reviewed. Multiple diverticula of the ureter or ureteral diverticulosis is most likely an acquired condition with a distinct radiological appearance.

Mammographic needle localization of lesions seen in only one view.

A new xeromammographic needle localization technique for occult breast lesions seen on only one view is described, which permitted successful localization of an occult lesion visible only on mediolateral projection. To test its accuracy, the method was also applied to 15 other cases (16 lesions) where the lesion was seen in two views, but localization was performed as if it were seen in one view only. The technique takes advantage of the geometry of x-ray beam angulation and triangulation.

CT diagnosis of limbus vertebra.

A case of limbus vertebra in a young patient is presented. Plain roentgenographic and computed tomographic (CT) findings of limbus vertebra are discussed. The condition was first diagnosed as a possible fracture on plain roentgenograms. Later, CT led to the diagnosis of limbus vertebra.

Confusion of roentgenographic differential diagnosis between ankylosing hyperostosis (Forestier's disease) and ankylosing spondylitis.

A patient with ankylosing hyperostosis (Forestier's disease) initially diagnosed elsewhere as a case of ankylosing spondylitis with bamboo spine, is presented. The characteristic roentgenographic findings of Forestier's disease in the axial skeleton of this patient are described, including computerized tomography of the lower lumbar spine and sacroiliac joints. Major clinical and radiological distinguishing features of Forestier's disease and ankylosing spondylitis are discussed.

CT of pseudohydronephrosis: hydroureter in a weight lifter.

A case of bilateral pseudohydronephrosis and hydroureter produced by markedly hypertrophied psoas muscles in a weight lifter is presented. Plain film and CT findings of the case are discussed together with the topographic anatomical explanation of the radiologic findings.
