A four-step approach can ensure systemic and permanent cost reduction that doesn't compromise patient care, demoralize staff, or increase costs in other areas: 1. Prioritize core processes. 2. Implement a disciplined process redesign methodology. 3. Review proposed changes with process owners and members. 4. Secure top management approval and sponsorship.
