In 1981 we observed two cases of leprosy in Salzburg. The two Vietnamese refugees already had advanced borderline disease. Treatment with dapsone resulted in clearing of the skin in both cases. One of the patients developed a leprosy reaction during treatment.
This report deals with a female patient with Wegener's granulomatosis, exhibiting characteristic asymptomatic lung disease and palpable purpura but also a granulomatous vasculitis of the intestine which led to multiple perforations. Therapy with cyclophosphamide and corticosteroids brought remission of all lesions.
Polymorphonuclear leukocyte chemotaxis was investigated in 15 patients with dermatitis herpetiformis and was found not to be significantly increased when compared with the polymorphonuclear leukocyte chemotaxis of 15 normal healthy controls. These results indicate that accumulations of polymorphonuclear leukocytes found in the skin of patients with dermatitis herpetiformis are not due to an increased responsiveness of polymorphonuclear leukocytes to a chemotactic factor.
Treatment with an oral aromatic all-trans retinoid (Ro 10-9359) resulted in clearing of the skin lesions in five patients with ichthyosis, four patients with Darier's disease and one patient with linear porokeratosis. No response to treatment was achieved in two patients with disseminated superficial actinic porokeratosis. Known side effects of retinoid treatment occurred in all patients in different intensity but disappeared when treatment was discontinued. Due to side effects (pruritus) treatment had to be discontinued only in one patient with Darier's disease and preexisting diabetes.

This report deals with a 26-year-old white woman exhibiting signs of both Kwashiorkor (marasmus, pallor, hypopigmentation of hair and hepatomegaly) and acrodermatitis enteropathica (eczematous dermatitis predominantly on acral areas). Clinical and laboratory examinations excluded malabsorption syndrome and glucagonoma syndrome and revealed hypoproteinemia and marked zinc deficiency. Psychiatric examination disclosed anorexia nervosa. Substitution therapy led to rapid clearing of the skin lesions.
Report of a case of histiocytosis X with adult onset, widespread skin lesions and rare central nervous system involvement resulting in dizziness and ataxia. On autopsy histiocytosis X infiltrates in the central nervous system were demonstrated with granuloma formation in the temporal lobe and nucleus dentatus of the cerebellum.
