[Paleopathology of Ichthyopterygia].

During microscopic histological studies of ichthyosaur bones the authors found that the bones of young ichthyosauri are well preserved without signs of inflammation. In the bones of old animals reproductive reactions were present. Thus, the severity of pathological alterations most likely depends on the age of the animals.

[Lipid metabolic changes in rats with radiation sickness and a pronounced intestinal syndrome following the local irradiation of the abdominal area. The total lipid content of the blood serum and tissues].

Local X irradiation of rat abdomen causes pronounced hyperlipemia after 4 and 72 h and a considerable accumulation of phospholipids and triacylglycerides in the liver after 72 h. In the thymus, the content of the nonesterified fatty acids decreased 4 h and that of cholesterol increased 72 h after irradiation.

[Changes in lipid metabolism in rats with radiation sickness and a pronounced intestinal syndrome following local irradiation of the abdominal region. Fatty acid composition of the blood and tissue phospholipids].

Local irradiation of rat abdomen (13.5 Gy) caused similar changes in fatty-acid composition of phospholipids in the liver, thymus and brain, that is: (a) a decrease in the polyunsaturated fatty acid content in 4 h, (b) a hypercompensatory increase in the content of polyunsaturated fatty acids (excluding thymus) in 24 h, the ratio between essential fatty acids and their derivatives being changed towards accumulation of the latter, and (c) a trend toward normalization in 72 h.

[Changes in lipid metabolism in rats with radiation sickness and a pronounced intestinal syndrome during parenteral feeding with lipofundin and infusolipol].

Local X-irradiation of rat abdomen (13.5 Gy) caused a pronounced intestinal syndrome which was partially coped with by parenteral feeding. The results indicate (1) a satisfactory assimilation of fatty emulsions used at certain doses and with certain parenteral diet composition, (2) a favourable effect of fatty emulsions on lipid metabolism in irradiated rats, and (3) some advantages of the parenteral feeding with infusolipol over lipofundin S.

[Chronic placental insufficiency and histogenesis of fetal thyroid in late spontaneous abortions].

The role of chronic placental insufficiency in the ontogenetic maturation of fetal thyroid gland was studied in 75 cases. The second trimester of physiologically normal and complicated by premature delivery pregnancies showed correlations between organometric and histiostereometric indices of placenta and thyroid gland. In case of chronic placental insufficiency depression of placental metabolic processes was found associated with discoordination of histogenesis of fetal thyroid gland, a decrease of specific capacity of its parenchyma and vessels, as well as with growth of stroma component value. These prove reduced histiofunctional properties and adaptive reactions of placenta.

[State of the mucus-producing apparatus of the stomach and duodenum in children with gastroduodenal pathology (lectin histochemistry].

Histochemical investigation of 228 mucosal biopsies from the stomach and duodenum of 57 children suffering from chronic gastroduodenitis and duodenal ulcer used the set of lectins PNA, WGA, SNA, LAL. In children with acute inflammation of the mucous membrane of the stomach antrum and duodenal bulb, redistribution of lectin receptors in the epithelium and mucus-producing glands was revealed to be similar to that in patients with duodenal ulcer. The above disorders of mucus production indicate the appearance of functional overloading of these structures and changes in the chemical composition of the mucus produced.

[Mathematical modeling of the dynamics of structural thyroid parameters in thyroid disease with immune disorders].

The material of the study was surgical thyroid biopsies from 126 patients, males and females, aged 14-69 years. 5 groups were studied depending upon the histological picture and the degree of lymphoid infiltration. Thyroids from 10 persons without thyroid pathology who died a violant life served as control. As a result of the factor analysis 5 main factors were distinguished. The first one is lymphoid infiltration, the 2nd and 3rd ones-factors of thyroid epithelium characterizing the structure and the size of thyrocytes, the 4th and the 5th factors characterize the structure of the thyroid as an organ. The analysis confirmed lymphoid infiltration and thyrocyte dimensional parameters are the most important morphological criteria in the diagnosis of thyroid pathology with immune disturbances. Six equations are derived allowing to classify new cases of thyroid pathology.

[Histofunctional state of the thyroid gland in pregnancy and in progeny under experimental regime of iodine intake].

The paper is devoted to the study of the character of structural changes in the thyroid gland in pregnancy and in progeny of rats with deficient or excessive intake of iodine. A stable model of thyroid transformation was developed under the conditions of the changed regimen of iodine intake in pregnancy. Predominantly proliferative changes of the epithelial component in the thyroid tissue developed in pregnancy both with deficient and excessive iodine. Based on the histochemical, morphometric, histostereometric analysis a close relationship between the character of transformation of maternal thyroid and the progeny thyroid tissue was found. Dynamics of the development of postnatal thyroid tissue in the presence of congenital structural-functional disorders is described.
