Aroma glycosides from Hovenia dulsis.

From the fresh leaves of Hovenia dulsis var. tomentella, two new aroma glycosides named kenposide A and B have been isolated together with the known glycoside, icariside C1. Their structures were determined on the basis of chemical and spectral evidence.

Potent inhibitors of histamine release, two novel triterpenoids from the Okinawan marine sponge Penares incrustans.

Two novel triterpenoids with an unusual 14-carboxyl group, penasterone [1] and acetylpenasterol [2], were isolated from the Okinawan marine sponge Penares incrustans. The structures of 1 and 2 were established mainly on the basis of nmr spectroscopic data. The relative stereochemistry of 1 was confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Compounds 1 and 2 potently inhibited histamine release from rat peritoneal mast cells induced by anti-IgE in a dose-dependent manner.

Structures of two new fibrinolytic saponins from the seed of Luffa cylindrica Roem.

Two new fibrinolytic saponins, lucyosides N and P, were isolated from the seeds of Luffa cylindrica Roem. (Cucurbitaceae). On the basis of chemical and spectral evidence, lucyoside N was characterized as 3-O-beta-D-galactopyranosyl-(1----2)-beta-D-glucuronopyranosyl-28- O-beta-D-xylopyranosyl-(1----4)-[beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1----3)]-alpha-L -rhamnopyranosyl-(1----2)-alpha-arabinopyranosyl quillaic acid. Lucyoside P was characterized as a gypsogenin glycoside with the same sugar moiety as lucyoside N.

[Isolation and identification of yibeinoside A].

Two steroidal alkaloids were isolated from the bulb of Fritillaria pallidiflora Schreb by column chromatographic techniques. One of them was identified as known alkaloid sinpeinine A, another alkaloid was found to be a new compound named yibeinoside A, which is the Sinpeinine-3-O-beta-glucoside. Its structure was confirmed on the basis of chemical and spectral data (IR, MS, 1HNMR, 13CNMR).
