[The results of a clinical trial of the preparation Ossopan].

The preparation Ossopan was used for period of one month in 20 pregnant women at 28 to 40 weeks' gestation with pain syndrome in the long bones, lumbosacral region and disturbed dental status. Its effect was studied on second group of 13 women with established clinically and roentgenologically climacteric osteoporosis, using a therapeutic course of 1 pill daily for a period of 6 months. A considerable clinical improvement of pain syndrome and dental status was found in the end of the treatment. The positive therapeutic effect, easy way of administration, its good tolerance and lack of side make it convenient for treatment of disturbances in calcium-phosphorus balance.

[Hysterographic follow-up of the results of treating uterine synechiae with an intrauterine contraceptive pessary].

The authors discuss the results from roentgenological (cervical hysterography) examination of the uterine cavity, aiming to confirm the results from the treatment of intrauterine synechiae. It was established that there were no roentgenological data for synechiae after the conducted treatment in 73.9% of the examined hysterograms. The treatment had no substantial effect only in 8.7% of women as synechiae remained unchanged. Very good results were obtained after usage of the intrauterine contraceptive devices--Super Dana and Lippes, possessing volumetric and stretching form in respect to the uterine cavity. The authors conclude that the hysterography is exact diagnostic method for confirming the effect of treatment of synechiae in the uterine cavity with suitable intrauterine loops.

[The characteristics of the x-ray image of the uterus bicornis].

The results from a hysterographic study on women with bicornuate uterus are discussed. It is established that its frequency is 2.2% of 1623 performed hysterosalpingographies. A detailed analysis is made on the form and dimensions of the cornua [correction of corns], total isthmic part and cervical canal. Some metric parameters (height and width, sizes of the isthmus the an angle between the corns) are given with the purpose of greater precision of roentgenological interpretation.

[The hysterosalpingographic characteristics of the changes in the uterine tubes after a wedge resection of the ovaries].

The authors analysed results from a hysterosalpingographic study on 58 women with primary sterility, on whom wedge resection of the ovaries was performed in the past. It was established that changes in the uterine tubes were found in more than 1/3 of the examined women and consisted mainly of periampullary adhesions as the two tubes were involved usually. On the basis of the obtained results an inference is made that the usage of resection of ovaries for treatment of some forms of female sterility should be applied only in cases, when conservative methods for treatment are completely inefficient.

[The importance of x-ray pelvimetry for the prognosis of pelvic dystocia].

The frequency of roentgenological pelvimetry at the Research Institute of Obstetric and Gynecology during 1988 is 4.79%. Thirty-five pelvimetries out of 276 (12.68%) were urgent, but the remaining 241 (87.32%) were planned. Pelvimetries showed normal measurements in 113 of pregnant women (40.94%), but there was shortening in one or more diameters of the single planes of the pelvis in 163 women (59.06%). The measures of the diameters of the pelvic cavity were shortened most frequently, more rarely at the pelvic inlet and most rarely at the pelvic outlet. Changes in the bony pelvis were indicated after secondary traumatic deformity of the pelvis. The role of roentgenological pelvimetry in taking decision for delivery of breech presentation of the fetus was analyzed. It is pointed out that the roentgenological pelvimetry is the single, easy, convenient, safe and available method for determination of pelvic diameters, respectively for prognosis of pelvic dystocia.

[Dynamic gamma-camera excretory scintigraphy in the diagnosis of a rare anomaly in the development of the internal genitalia (the Slotnik-Goldfarb syndrome with uterus unicornis)].

The combination of a missing ovary and uterine tube on the one side (the syndrome of Slotnik-Goldfarb) with ipsilateral absence of the uterine horn is a rare anomaly, undescribed in our obstetric-gynecological literature. The difficulties in the diagnosis of this anomaly are connected with the necessity to use invasive methods for establishment of respective changes. The method was used in a woman, suffering from sterility, in connection with examining the possibilities of dynamic gamma-camera scintigraphy to discover ovarian parenchyma. Hysterosalpingography proved the presence of a hypoplastic uterine horn on the right side, an uterine tube on the same side (changed and nonpatent). Dysovulatory syndrome was established in this woman clinically. The performed scintigraphy confirmed the presence of ovarian parenchyma on the right side as well as a hypoplastic uterine horn and uterine tube and complete lack of accumulation of radionuclide on the left side, which suggested absence of ovarian parenchyma in the sideé in which the uterine horn and uterine tube were undeveloped as well. It is evaluated that the scintigraphic technique, described by the authors, could be used for establishment of such rare anomalies by noninvasive way.

[The place of x-ray pelvimetry in obstetrical practice].

The frequency of roentgenological pelvimetry, its changes in accordance with obstetric management of labour and its place in the obstetric practice were studied at the Research institute of Obstetric and Gynecology for the period of 1979-1988. It was established that its mean frequency for the investigated period was 7.0%, but its highest frequency--11.1% during 1982. During the following years its frequency gradually diminished and it was stabilized within the ranges of 3.5 to 5.0% during the last three years. It is indicated that roentgenological pelvimetry should be made compulsory in women with secondary deformed pelvis and in women with fetal breech presentation, whose parturition should be managed per vias naturales. It is stressed that the roentgenological pelvimetry has its place in the obstetric practice and it is a valuable diagnostic method.

[Comparative evaluation of methods for the diagnosis of submucosal myomatous nodules].

The authors examined 33 women at fertile age with complaints of dysfunctional uterine bleedings, not affected by medicamentous therapy and absence of convincing data for changes in the gynecological status. Probatory curettage was made in 18 out of 33 women, but ultrasonic examination was made on the other 15 patients. We compared the obtained results with the data from hysterographic examination. It was established that the diagnosis of submucous nodules was established in 44.4% of women after the probatory curettage, while this was true only in 1/5 of the patients by the method of echography as in diagnostic respect the results were in direct dependence upon the size and location of myomatous nodules.

[X-ray diagnosis of submucosal fibromyoma].

Data on hysterographic examination are analysed in 57 women, in whom there are roentgenologic signs for myomatous nodes, localized submucosally. An attempt is made to systematize characteristic changes in this lesion (measures, location, form and outlines). A conclusion is reached that roentgenological examination with the possibility objectively to establish the existence of submucous myomas, on the one hand and to determine their typical morphological peculiarities, on the other, could help to diagnose cases with obscure clinical history.

[The x-ray characteristics of the changes in the fallopian tubes of women with primary sterility who have had an appendectomy].

Using hysterosalpingography an attempt was made to classify the changes occurring in the uterine tubes of 114 women with primary sterility, undergone appendectomy in the past. It was established that changes in the tubes presented various character and included 2/5 of the material. There was direct dependence between appendectomy with complications and the gravity of the tubal factor.

[Problems in the x-ray imaging of adenomyosis (endometriosis interna uteri)].

After a brief review od the nature of disease, its clinical picture, the most frequent roentgenologic images manifested by roentgenologic examination (hysterography), the authors describe their own material. Prospective study was carried out in the course of one year. Twelve women with adenomyosis were discovered and confirmed roentgenologically and histologically (a postoperative preparation). The finding was of accidental character in 9 out of 12 women (75%) and no adenomyosis was taken into consideration. The investigation was performed by conventional method for hysterosalpingography in 10 out of 12 cases. A new technique--subfundic hysterography was used in the remaining two cases, in whom it was contraindicated. The roentgenologic image was characterized by depots located mainly on the fundus, asymmetrically, on the background of deformed uterine cavity (in the region of uterine horns). Two cases, presenting rather typical images, were reported. In the discussion attention was paid to the fact that the main clinical sign in the examined cases was irregular, repeating, long lasting genital bleeding, moderate increase of the uterus and characteristic roentgenologic picture. The histological results from curettages--trial and therapeutic on account of the bleedings, were of undetermined character and was of little help for exact establishment of diagnosis.
