[Development of the papillary designs of human fingers].

In 22 human embryos and fetuses from 6 to 36 weeks of age successive formation of papillary patterns in the distal phalanges of the fingers have been studied. It has been stated that the papillary pattern begins forming with definition of its typical model, that is the central fragment of the pattern appears the first; the delta formation completes the process. The central fragment of the pattern is distinctly seen in the 16-17-week-old, and the delta-in the 22-24-week-old fetuses.

[Giant thrombosed saccular aneurysm of the brain].

Five cases of giant thrombosed saccular aneurysms of the cerebral vessels were studied. Three patients had an aneurysm of the middle cerebral artery, one--of the internal carotid artery and one--of the basilar artery. Three patients were operated on. The removal of the aneurysm had a good result in one case, a preoperative neurological defect remained in 2 cases. The clinical picture, diagnosis and the possibilities of surgical intervention in aneurysms of this type are discussed.

["Moyamoya" disease].

The article discusses the clinical picture, diagnosis, and treatment of a rare pathologic condition of the cerebral vessels known by the Japanese name "moyamoya". Six cases with this disease among adults are described. Three patients had ischemic attacks, two young females were found to have intracerebral hematomas which were successfully evacuated. In one case the vascular anomaly became evident after a craniocerebral trauma and was manifested by subarachnoid hemorrhage and infarction in the subcortical structures.

[Nerve regeneration after defect replacement by fresh, degenerated, frozen and irradiated allotransplants (experimental study)].

The authors studied the results of allotransplantation of fresh, frozen, preliminarily degenerated and irradiated, and stored in a nutrient medium under deep-freeze conditions nerve segments. Satisfactory results were registered only in transplantation of irradiated transplants. Evidence of this was provided by morphologic and electrophysiologic data and by microangiograms of their arterial network.
