Treatment of rheumatoid arthritis with radionuclide combination.

Radiation synovectomy (RSIN) with radionuclide combination (N) was performed in 135 patients with rheumatoid arthritis or 417 joints: 155 knee joints (90Y), 230 MCF or PIF joints (169Er), 17 ankle, 7 wrist, 6 elbow and 2 shoulder joints (186Re). Therapeutic effect was followed up during 8 year period. After 3 years positive effect of the treatment was achieved in 70-80% of cases and complete treatment in 50-60% of cases, while 8 years later the same effects were maintained in 55-60%, i.e. 35-40% of the treated joints. The best effect was achieved in the treatment of the knee and the worst in the treatment of the wrist joint. At simultaneous application of one or several different RN, the total dose for one patient did not exceed 259 MBq while the maximum dose was 695 MBq during the long-term treatment.

[Chronic encapsulated intracerebral hematoma].

Radiological-morphologic features of chronic intracerebral hematomas are observed by computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR), and in angiographic examination are particularly characterized by the absence of pathologic vascularization. The patient, aged 61, with confirmed diagnosis of encapsulated intracerebral hematoma, treated at the Clinic of Neurology and Clinic of Neurosurgery of the Military Medical Academy was presented. The patient was released after recovery, and was consequently followed up in an outpatient department by a neurosurgeon. Six-month follow-up demonstrated the regression of the clinical signs of the disease, as well as the alterations in CT and MR images in the same sense.

[Criteria for the diagnosis of epilepsy caused by cerebral cysticercosis in a population of recruits].

Epidemiological and clinical characteristics as well as characteristic of paraclinical findings in epilepsia caused by cerebral cysticercosis in recruit population have been studied. The experimental group consisted of 50 recruits with epilepsia caused by cerebral cysticercosis and the control group consisted of 28 recruits with symptomatic epilepsia of other etiology. By correlation of all the results obtained the criteria for diagnosis of epilepsia caused by cerebral cysticercosis have been defined. The results were graded as reliable, probable and suspected. For diagnosis of epilepsia caused by cerebral cysticercosis the decisive factors have been the results of tests of indirect immunofluorescence to cysticercosis (IIF) and computerized tomography (CT) of the brain. Finally, some clinical signs and paraclinical findings have been grouped on the basis of which it can be established a reliable, probable or suspected diagnosis of the disease.

[Magnetic resonance in the neuroradiologic diagnosis of syringomyelia].

Syringomyelia is the chronic progressive disease which etiology has still been discussed. The diagnosis and differential diagnosis of all SM types using magnetic resonance as specific and most sensitive method of examination have been presented in the study for the first time in our country. In two-year period since the introduction of this examination method in our Institute we examined 25 patients with 3 primary congenital and 22 with secondary SM, among whom 15 had post-traumatic and 7 had traumatic forms. All the changes characteristic for syringomyelia in neuroradiologic diagnosis were described in details. Magnetic resonance is primary and superior neuroradiologic method in all spinal processes for the discovery of neurologic, undefined myelopathic changes, such as SM. The methods of micro-surgical operative treatment are not the subject of this study.

[Neuroradiologic diagnosis of space compression processes caused by orbital tumors or pseudotumors].

In thirty-year period are presented 110 patients with spatio-compressive orbital processes diagnosed by ophtalmoradiological methods. Out of those, 100 patients were surgically treated and histopathologically verified in our institution. All the entities of spatio-compressive processes are presented, benign and malignant tumors as well as pseudotumors of inflammatory and vascular nature. All the methods known in the world up to day are chronologically alleged, from classic to modern digital methods, as well as their diagnostic efficacy. The most efficacious algorhitm is established in the choice of radiological examination procedures on the basis of former experience. The collaboration of neuroradiologist, ophthalmologist and neurosurgeon was of the utmost significance in solving the spatio-compressive orbital processes.
