Stenosing peroneal tenosynovitis.

The etiology, diagnosis and surgical treatment of stenosing tenosynovitis of the peroneal tendons is presented. The authors stress the need for thorough understanding of this clinical entity as its symptomatology can mimic several more frequently encountered podiatric pathologies. This could result in delayed or missed diagnosis and, thus, improper management.

Diabetes and healing: a review of the literature.

Blood sugar control is an important factor for healing in the diabetic surgical patient. Careful assessment preoperatively of all patients for glucose is essential. A surgical zone of serum glucose should be established for diabetics, and this zone should be maintained throughout the procedure and postoperative period. Blood sugar control should be maintained by the patient throughout the healing phase, as poor control may interfere with the healing process.
