Primary liposarcoma of the pharynx.

We describe a rare case of primary pharyngeal liposarcoma in a 64-year-old man who had multiple recurrences. The available literature is reviewed and discussed. Although it is very difficult to assess the prognosis and treatment of pharyngeal liposarcomas, it appears that the histologic characteristics of the individual tumor and its location and resectability determine the outcome of treatment. However, because of its rare occurrence clinically, no single institution has been able to gain enough experience to formulate reliable long-term prognoses and therapeutic guidelines.

Hearing loss during resuscitation.

Tympanic injury secondary to positive pressure mask ventillation is rare. During resuscitative procedures, two patients developed partial deafness, one from disarticulation of the incudomalleal joint, the other from an oval window perilymph fistula. Excessive pressure transmitted rapidly through the eustachian tube is postulated to have caused both injuries.

Non-Hodgkins lymphoma of the infratemporal fossa: a case report.

Lymphomas are statistically the second most common malignant tumor of the head and neck, following squamous cell carcinoma. They may present in the cervical lymph nodes or in extranodal areas. This paper presents an unusual case of a non-Hodgkins lymphoma that presented in the infratemporal fossa of a 25-year-old woman. The anatomy of the infra-temporal fossa is reviewed, and evaluation and therapy of lesions in this area are discussed.
