An unusually large renal hemangioma with nonfunction on an excretory urogram is reported. Preoperative angiography revealed typical early draining veins in the kidney. Contrary to the previously reported cases preoperative angiography precluded renal salvage procedure. The resected kidney was nearly completely replaced with cavernous hemangioma. To the best of our knowledge this is the largest renal hemangioma on record.

Localization of either multiple, metastatic and/or asymptomatic pheochromocytomas sometimes is elusive because all imaging methods to date have been nonspecific in character. We report 2 cases in which scintigraphy was used with a new radiopharmaceutical agent, 131iodine-metaiodobenzylguanidine, for the accurate localization of pheochromocytoma. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of asymptomatic pheochromocytoma imaged by 131iodine-metaiodobenzylguanidine scintigraphy.
Sera from 23 patients with renal cell carcinoma were tested for circulating immune complexes by Clq binding assay and immunosuppressive acidic protein by single radial immunodiffusion. The mean values of circulating immune complexes and immunosuppressive acidic protein in the patients were significantly higher than those of normal controls, and over-all positive rates were 52 and 35 per cent, respectively. There was a significant correlation between immunosuppressive acidic protein levels and the extent of tumor invasion. Immunosuppressive acidic protein may be a more useful marker than circulating immune complexes. However, presently synthetic evaluations of patients with various nonspecific markers, including these 2 factors, will be necessary.

This report presents a case of colonic adenoma which developed after ureterosigmoidostomy. A 71-year-old man was initially treated by total cystectomy and ureterosigmoidostomy for transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder in 1970. In 1983, a routine checkup revealed urinary occult blood. A barium enema x-ray showed a polypoid lesion in the sigmoid colon. Colonoscopy confirmed the presence of the polyp adjacent to the ureteral stoma. The biopsy findings were interpreted as villous adenoma with severe atypia. This tumor was removed endoscopically. This is the seventh case report of neoplasia occurring in the sigmoid colon after ureterosigmoidostomy in Japan. Review of the pertinent literature indicates that patients who have undergone this type of urinary diversion have an increased risk of development of large bowel neoplasia. Adequate and regular surveillance of these patients has been suggested in order to help in early detection.
Results of a questionnaire study on the daily life of patients undergoing ureterosigmoidostomy are reported. Nine patients who survived for more than 1 year after the operation were subjected to this study. At the time of their regular checkup, they were asked questions including the frequency of febrile attack, degree of daily work, bathing, complaints, frequency of urination and incontinence and feeling towards ureterosigmoidostomy. These patients had neither serious complications nor complaints. All except for 1 patient were satisfied and were enjoying daily life after ureterosigmoidostomy.

Surgery has been considered to be a main treatment of urogenital cancer. However, surgery alone could not completely cure these patients. The prognosis was poor. Multi-disciplinary treatment has been adopted to improve these results. However, there are many problems to be solved, such as combination of these regimens. In addition, the criteria for evaluation of the therapy should be considered. Nevertheless, multi-disciplinary treatment has been one of the most potent procedures for these malignancies.
