Basing of 2 clinical cases, the spontaneous intrauterine rupture of contraceptive Lippes loop has been discussed. The analysis of complications accompanying application of contraceptives of this type is presented.

[Polyester tendon for atraumatic cervical suture during pregnancy].

There are presented the attempts of operative treatment of so called habitual abortions resulting from uterine cervix insufficiency. Two groups of operations were distinguished, based on the methods of Shirodkar and McDonald. Advantages and disadvantages of these operations, and their modifications used in obstetrical clinical practice are discussed. The importance of the selection of suitable material for the suture was pointed out. The authors developed an atraumatic needle provided with a polyester tendon. There are shown advantageous clinical resutls in 56 patients, out of whom 48 have given birth to viable children. Abortions occurred in 3 cases, premature deliveries in 3 and immature deliveries in 2.

[Use of plastic catheters for the catheterization of the umbilical vein in newborn and premature infants].

The use of catheters for exchange transfusion in newborns for the treatment of hemolytic disease is discussed. Basing on over 5-years' clinical observation period it has been concluded that Polish catheter for exchange transfusion satisfactorily meets the demands.
