[Hepatoprotective effect of Tibetan remedy "Dig-Da-Shi-Tan"].

In experiments on albino rats with toxic hepatitis due to their exposure to tetracycline hydrochloride it was shown that a course of therapeutic and preventive administration of Dig-da-shi-tan decoction had a strong hepatoprotective effect. Antioxidative, membrane integrative, cholagogic and antiinflammatory activities of the remedy were revealed.

[Effect of hepatophyt on the choleretic function of the liver damaged by tetracycline].

In experimental injury of the liver in Wistar-line white rats induced by tetracycline the course therapeutic and prophylatic administration of the dry extract "Hepatophyt" in a dose of 0.1 g/kg inhibits the negative effect of tetracycline and promotes stimulation of choleretic and antitoxic functions of the liver. The dry extract was derived from the herbal mix of the same name, used in the practice of Tibetan medicine against liver diseases.

[Effect of antihepatotoxic tea on the course of drug-induced hepatitis].

Pharmacotherapeutic efficacy of antihepatoxic tea was studied on an experimental model of tetracycline-induced hepatitis. It was concluded that the tea had a marked pharmacotherapeutic effect on the process of tetracycline-induced hepatitis in animals. It lowered the level of the cytolytic syndrome, prevented the progress of cholestasis and stimulated the bile secretory function of the liver. The favourable effect of the plant antihepatotoxic preparation was due to the presence of a complex of its biologically active substances.

[Therapeutic-preventive effect of sodium selenite on the course of experimental myocardial infarct].

An occlusion of the left coronary artery in rats tends to signally raise the intensity of free radical oxidation of myocardial-lipids, which is revealed by the chemofluorescent method. A direct correlational link between the intensity of the lipids peroxidation and the extent of the myocardial damage was established. Subcutaneous injection of sodium selenite in a dose of 30 gamma/kg 2 hours prior to ligation and once daily for a space of 7 days produces a distincly reduced intensity of free-radical processes in the myocardium, decreases the extent of infarction and prevents the appearance of gross changes on the ECG.

[Hepatoprotective effect of granules of the dry extract obtained from Gentianopsis barbata (Froel) Ma].

The granulated dry extract from Gentianopsis barbata (Froel) Ma in a dose of 0.1 g/kg produced a pronounced therapeutic effect in rats with experimental toxic (tetrachloromethane) and drug-induced (tetracycline) hepatitis. The gentian extract improved the bile production and secretion functions of liver, normalized the protein, lipid, and pigment metabolism, and increased the antioxidant system activity in the test animals.

[Comparative choleretic properties of natural xanthone compounds from Gentianopsis barbata].

Comparative data are presented for the choleretic activity of xanthones isolated from Gentianopsis barbata (Froel.) Ma. (Gentianaceae family): a sum of xanthone glycosides (I) and aglycons (II); xanthone aglycons, including decussatin [1-(OH)-3,7,8-(OCH3)3] (III) and gentiacaulein [1,7-(OH)-3,8-(OCH3)2] (IV); and xanthone glycoside gentiabavaroside [1-O-primverosyl-7-(OH)-3,8-(OCH3)2] (V). It was established that (II) is superior to (I) with respect to cholagogic effect and is inferior to (III) and (IV) with respect to cholatostimulant action.

[The characteristics of the action of polyphytochol on the course of experimental hepatitis and cholecystitis].

The effect of polyphytochol representing a combination of vegetable agents was studied on models of acute toxic hepatitis caused by CCl4 and cholecystitis. The efficiency of the drug in pathology of the hepatobiliary system was shown: it decreases cholestasis acting as a choleretic and bile-secreting drug, acts on the main pathogenetic links in hepatitis, exerts a marked membrane-stabilizing effect, influences favourably the processes of synthesis in the liver.

Animals↗

[Effect of kaleflon on the course of experimental hepatitis].

A pronounced cholagogic effect of kaleflon was found in the experiment on albino rats. The course administration of kaleflon in a dose of 0.05 g/kg exerts a marked pharmacotherapeutic action on the course of experimental hepatitis.

[Effect of sodium selenite, alpha-tocopherol and their combinations on the indices of the functional state of the heart regulation adren- and cholinergic systems in experimental myocardial infarct].

A course-wise administration of sodium selenate (30 gamma/kg), alpha-tocopherol (50 mg/kg) and of their combination in the same doses brings down the catecholamines content in the heart and suprarenals in the acute period of developing myocardial infarction (2nd day) with its subsequent normalization on the 14th day. Under the effect of these drugs the proportion of acetylcholine-like substances in the heart with experimental infarction rises at the expense of an accruing free (unbound with protein) fraction. The cholinesterase activity then gets intensified in the acute period and becomes normal by the 14th day.

[Experimental antioxidant pharmacotherapy of liver injuries].

It has been shown in rats with experimental hepatitis that sodium selenite and vegetable polyphenol complexes of Malus Pallasiana Juz., Schabiosa comosa F ex. R. et Sch., Odontites serotina Dum., Gentiana barbata Froel, have antioxidant action. Experiments on rabbits and rats have demonstrated the pathogenetic importance of activation of free-radical lipid oxidation during ischemic and toxic injuries to the liver and biliferous ducts.
