[The functional therapy of condylar fractures: a kinesiographic follow-up].

Mandibular condylar fractures are frequent traumatic events which, if not properly treated, can develop dysfunctional and degenerative aspects. The treatment has the two goals of maintaining the correct mandibular movements and of sustaining the potential of condylar growth in young patients. The CMS (Computerized Mandibular Scanner) analysis showed the efficacy of functional therapy in condylar fractures.

[The psychological aspects of craniocervicomandibular pain dysfunction pathology].

The authors emphasized the role of the psychological factors in the onset and the maintenance of the algetic and dysfunctional pathology of the cranio-cervical-mandibular syndrome. The evaluation of anxiety and depression was made by psychological tests consisting in questionnaires given to the patients. The results of the questionnaires were not statistically valid due to the limited number of subjects, but a clinical and a psychological analysis was possible. The deep relationship between the patient and the therapist was analyzed from the psychological point of view.

[MK6: a computerized diagnostic system for mandibular movement].

The authors describe the use of a new computerized diagnostic system MK6 by Myotronics Inc., Seattle, for the cranio-mandibular disorders. The conclusion of an anamnestic questionnaire, of an extraoral and intraoral standardized analysis and the computerized tridimensional tracings allow a precise and accurate diagnosis of the occlusal and neuromuscular pathology.
