[Possibility of using the BI-3 jet injector for gamma globulin administration].

The results of weighing glass flasks before and after "shooting" preparations varying in viscosity into these flasks from type BI-3 jet injectors indicated that the ejected dose of gamma globulin corresponded to the preset value. Studies carried out by means of radioisotyope technique with the use of Tc99m showed that the intramuscular injection of gamma globulin with type BI-3 jet injector resulted in 75% of the preset dose penetrating the body. For this reason in mass vaccination against Botkin's disease the dose of the preparation in the injector should be increased by 1/3.

[Acute intestinal diseases in Northern Africa].

Analysis of morbidity of dysentery and the rest diarrheal affections according to the books for primary recording of patients at one of the large administrative territories of the Northern Africa showed that official statistics reflected only 1/13 of dysentery patients who applied for medical aid (18.2 and 236.3 per 100 000 residents, respectively). Morbidity index of the rest of diarrheal affections constituted 2424.5 per 100 000. The mean lethality in diarrhea affections (including dysentery) was 1.7%. The fact that in the examination of 439 persons who came in contact with the patients suffering from typhoid fever the causative agents of dysentery were isolated in 19 (4.3%) indicated their wide circulation among the population.

[Controversial and unsolved problems in the prevention of infectious hepatitis].

Data are presented indicating that 1 ml of 10% and 1% immunoglobulin possessed similar epidemiological activity in the prophylaxis of infectious hepatitis. It was shown that redical action of infectious hepatitis on the epidemic process was possible only in case of embracement by immunoglobulin vaccination of not less than 80% of children aged from 1 to 11 years. The economic effect of the introduction of 1% immunoglobulin constituted about 40 000 roubles per 100 000 persons vaccinated. Besides, a possibility of side-effects were nilin case of placental immunoglobulin since in the 1% preparation nonspecific biologically active substances could penetrate in much lesser amounts.

[Epidemiological characteristics of water-borne outbreaks of typhoid in North Africa].

On the basis of analysis of several water-borne outbreaks in Northern Africa the authors came to the conclusion that when the population applies for medical aid rarely hospitalization curve reflected the morbidity curve. Attention is paid to the fact that in late and incomplete hospitalization of the patients at the period of water-borne outbreaks of typhoid fever some of the cases are subsequent and are not associated with the factor causing their primary origination. High morbidity indices in older age groups (15-39 years old persons) are due to their greater applicability for medical aid. The group of children aged from 10 to 14 years old is the one affected the most.
