[The experience of the Department of Industrial Medicine of the Moscow I. M. Sechenov Medical Academy in training specialists at the postgraduate level].

Occupational Medicine Department in Moscow Sechenov Medical Academy is based on RAMSc Research Institute for Occupational Medicine. The Department's general line is postgraduate education with qualification exam and certification in following specialties: industrial hygiene, occupational pathology, clinical laboratory evaluation and prophylactic toxicology. The Department elaborated many methodic documents and study guides, sample educational programs for doctors in industrial hygiene and for residents in occupational pathology. Correspondence study is also in practice. Now textbook in occupational medicine is oncoming.

[A system of introduction of the results of scientific research on hygiene into practical health care and national economics].

The country's socio-economic development necessitates further elaboration of new approaches to the introduction of hygienic research results into practice. The main criterion for choosing proper research techniques lies in their economy-type efficiency, both social, medical and economic. A new system of hygienic research introduction should be based on financial and economic stimuli, establishment of a network of inventive firms, as well as supported by an effective mechanisms of information feed-back with due account of health indices.

[Individual variability and inheritance of the number and size of the nucleolar organizer regions in chromosomes of domestic swine].

Individual variability of the number and size of silver-staining nucleolar organiser regions (NOR) was studied in 76 pigs of Semirechenskaya, Big White and Duroc breeds. The variability of the NOR number is exclusively caused by the presence of the 8NOR- allele (the chromosomes of the 8th homologous pair lacking the silver-staining NOR). Concentration of the 8NOR- allele is about 0.7 in the average for all three breeds. All 7 offsprings from the homozygous parents male 8NOR- /8NOR- and female 8NOR+/8NOR+ were heterozygotes 8NOR- /8NOR+. These data, together with good agreement between found and expected (according to the Hardy-Weinberg law) frequencies of homo- and heterozygotes suggest the codominant character of the NOR number inheritance. This allows using the NOR analysis to control the parentage announced. The study of inheritance of the size of NOR did not prove unequivocally its codominant character.

[Chromosome aberrations in hothouse workers coming in contact with pesticides].

The frequency of chromosome mutations in the peripheral blood lymphocytes has been studied in 40 greenhouse workers professionally contacting with a complex of pesticides. The frequency of chromosome aberrations in the group of workers amounts to 6.0 +/- 0.3%, that is higher than the frequency of aberrations in the control group.
