[Guided and unguided hinge axis in the totally edentulous].

This investigation presents a commentary about two researches locating the terminal hing axis (THA) in totally edentulous people determined through the guided and not guided methods with chin compression. The main conclusions were: the emergency points of the THA were located in the anterioinferior quadrant; the definition of the emergency points of the THA will occur next the vertical dimension of occlusion position; the THA were determined in precise sites without difficult; each method located one THA.

[Working contacts and balance in complete dentures].

The objective of this work was to study the intercuspid contacts in articulation of full dentures, confectioned in full adjustable articulators, and the individual compensating curve. The conclusions were: all of the examined cases showed simultaneous bilateral contacts; the number of each side varied from one patient to another; the variation on the work side was of 7 of 13 points and on the balance side was of 1 to 6 points; the multiple works and balance contacts assure good conditions of stabilization, comfort and mastigatory efficiency.

[Incidence of temporomandibular joint dysfunction in the totally edentulous].

Were examined 584 clinical registers of full edentulous patients, from which selected 184, related to the patients, with T.M.J. disfunction. The conclusions were: in our environment, 31.5% of bimaxilar full edentulous presented the T.M.J. disfunctions; in female patients, the occurrence is slightly more than in male patients (respectively 34.7% and 23.3%); the "use of dentures" factor is slightly significant in comparison to not use of dentures; 50% of disfunctions are found among the 51 and 70 years age patients; the ruid is the more frequent sign of disfunction; the complain of pain in the condyle region is more frequent symptom of disfunction.

[Position variations of models on articulators based on terminal hinge axis and anatomical condylar points].

In this research the determination of the T.H.A. was taken aided by the TT kinematic arch, guided technique, with chin compression and by the alternative technique, the anatomic average. After confirming that the cited methods determine discrepant points among themselves, the research was carried on, studying the influence of those points upon the model's positions in the articulator. The main conclusions were: the emergence points of the T.H.A. are located in the anterio-inferior quadrant; the alterations that occur in the model's position are in most cases of rotatory type; occur alterations in model's position either in horizontal plan or frontal plan.
