The authors present the personal experiences of an attending physician in a Death Row in Ceylon (Sri-Lanka). Aspects of the execution scenario are presented and discussed with its implications for the protagonists: the condemned, witnesses, standers-by, authorities and society-at large.

Portrait of a pusher--"mother".

The authors describe a case history of a drug pusher who has represented a special problem for their drug treatment program, since he functions symbiotically with this program, and is intimately involved with its clientele. Such a development, in the course of a drug treatment program, has implications for the practicality of the treatment approach. Methods of coping are discussed.

Schizophrenia--phenomenological and biological aspects.

This manuscript attempts to integrate certain biological aspects of schizophrenia with the clinical symptoms of this condition and the schizophrenic experience. Neurophysiological, biochemical, and dynamic aspects of schizophrenia involving reticular activating system, split brain studies, and the role of serotonin are discussed. The author feels that inability to selectively attend to a stimulus is the core defect in schizophrenia. Other related possibilities are alluded to.
