[Current views of vascular endothelium in health and at a pathology of the gastrointestinal tract].

The article presents current data on the structure, function and biological role of vascular endothelium as well as its role in the genesis of pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract. Characteristics of endothelial vasoconstrictors and vasodilators are given. When we take into account the literature data and authors' studies, it becomes expedient to conduct further studies of the role of endothelial dysfunction in the development of diseases of the digestive tract in view of little knowledge of it at this pathology as well as availability of mostly experimental data.

[Endothelial dysfunction in patients with chronic colitis].

The work shows that patients with chronic colitis have an expressed endothelial dysfunction, which becomes apparent as an increase of the level of vasoconstrictor endothelin-1 and decrease of the level of vasodilator nitric oxide. The obtained data indicate the role of the endothelial dysfunction in the pathogenesis of chronic colitis. The efficiency of the complex therapy with the use of folic acid and zinkteral for the restoration of the endothelium function is marked in comparison with the group of the patients treated with the help of the basic therapy.
