Gastric perforation from hepatic artery infusion chemotherapy.

Hepatic artery infusion chemotherapy may result in mucosal inflammation and ulceration, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, pancreatitis and catheter-related vascular injury. We report a patient who developed gastric perforation during hepatic artery infusion chemotherapy. The influence of variations of hepatic artery branching and catheter placement in producing this life-threatening complication is discussed.

Splenic artery-colonic fistula due to pancreatitis.

Patients with chronic pancreatitis may have gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, and gastroesophageal varices are commonly responsible. In our case, emergency angiography was used to demonstrate bleeding from a splenic artery-colonic fistula.

Common origin of inferior mesenteric and accessory renal artery.

Arteriography performed in the preoperative evaluation of a patient with horseshoe kidney and renal calculi revealed a common origin of the inferior mesenteric artery and an anomalous left lower polar renal artery. The origin of the anomaly and its clinical significance are reviewed.

Single coronary artery: recent considerations.

Although traditionally regarded as a minor congenital variation, a reconsideration of the single coronary artery anomaly indicates the potentially profound clinical significance of this entity--notably the consequences of coronary artery disease, the risk of sudden death at an early age, and the technical difficulties presented in cardiac surgery. To this point, it has recently been observed that 15% of individuals with isolated single coronary artery present with severe cardiac difficulties before age 40 years.
