[A structural approach to discourse ethics].

Discourse ethics continues the Kantian tradition of ethical universalism. The communicative discourse rationality is its philosophical paradigm. Part A formulates the normative principle of equal coresponsibility of all members within the argumentation community. When we are seriously arguing, we have not only acknowledged our membership in the real communication community, but as well the moral duty to approach the conditions of the ideal communication community step by step. In our daily life, the ideal norms of discourse ethics cannot be realized totally. Therefore, part B analyses all these restrictions and aspects of individual and global responsibilities. With these two levels, structure of part A and B, the discourse ethics combines abstract deontic ethics of principles with history-oriented ethics of responsibility.

[Herpes simplex virus infection in the first weeks of life].

Most neonatal Herpes-simplex-virus infections are the result of virus acquisition during passage through the birth canal. Transplacental transmission of HSV is seldom. The infection is mostly localized at the skin, eyes and central nervous system. The disseminated HSV-infection represents as the most severe clinical picture. It is reported about meningoencephalitis caused by HSV in 3 infants in the first weeks of life. The therapeutic success of antiviral chemotherapeutics depends very much on their application at an early stage of the disease, which can be recognized by cerebral sonography and detection of IgM-antibodies against HSV.

[Results of ultrasound brain studies in clinically normal newborn infants].

Ultrasound investigations demonstrating intracranial hemorrhages (periventricular intraventricular hemorrhage-PVH/IHV) were performed in 401 term newborns. Without consideration the mode of delivery incidence of intracranial hemorrhage was 4.7%. There were only subependymal hemorrhages grade 1 and 2. In case of vaginal-operative delivered children frequency of hemorrhage in forceps delivered babies was really lower than in vacuum extracted newborns.

[The prognosis of encephalitis in childhood].

Follow-up examination of 95 former patients who had been suffering from encephalitis in infancy were performed. The coincidence of disturbance of consciousness, pathological-EEG and neurological irritation- and deficiency symptoms proved to be an unfavourable prognosis. These patients are especially handicapped in their concentration and motorial performances. Only 50% of the group with a severe course of the disease achieved a complete vocational training.

[Sonography as an aid in the early diagnosis of herpes simplex encephalitis].

In 3 infants with meningoencephalitis caused by Herpes simplex viruses the findings of cerebral sonography corresponded with those of computerized tomography and electroencephalography. The therapeutic success of antiviral chemotherapeutics depends very much on their application at an early stage of the disease, which can be recognized by cerebral sonography.

[Delayed fontanelle closure in infants with cyanotic cardiomyopathies].

In comparison with infants not suffering from cyanotic heart failures a different size (width and length) as well as a delayed time of closure of the anterior fontanelle in infants with congenital cyanotic heart failures were detected. In these patients typical phenomenons by ultrasound examinations are described also.
