It was shown that during radical operations, performed for local spread of rectal cancer (T3--T4, P3--P4), in most patients tumor cells identical to the primary tumor are found in the thoracic duct lymph. To the end of prophylaxis of intraoperative lymphogenic dissemination of tumor cells 71 patients with rectal cancer, spread locally, were subjected preoperatively to endolymphatic infusion of 10% dibunol solution in iodolipol or chromolymphotrast. The preparation was found to be completely deposited in the lymphatic system and to block the routes of lymphogenic dissemination of tumor cells. A considerably reduced number of the postoperative metastases and recurrence of rectal cancer was noted in patients, subjected to radical operations following endolymphatic infusion of oil dibunol solution.
The authors present the analysis of 353 abdomino-anal resections of the rectum with a pull-through procedure on the colon. Different postoperative complications were noted in 88 patients (24.9%), 59 of them (16.7%) developed complications typical for the procedure concerned (necrosis of the descended colon, colovaginal fistula). Due to a high level of the descended colon necrosis 24 patients (6.7%) were subjected to the reoperation - a double trunk transversostomy to exclude feces. In 37 patients with necrosis of the descended intestine a principally new method of treatment with colonic enemas was employed. As a result, there was a possibility to avoid colostomy and to liquidate diastasis between the descended colon and anal canal in 33 patients. The postoperative mortality among patients, subjected to abdomino-anal resection of the rectum with a pull-through procedure on different portions of the colon, made 3.1 per cent.

The results of the experiments for the objective evaluation on a model system of the protective effect of deodorant gaskets on colostomy patients are given. It has been determined that the deodorant capacity of the above gaskets is more than two times higher than that of its "washer filter" analog manufactured by the foreign "Coloplast" company.
