[Extensive bifocal location of ependymoma of the spinal cord].

Spinal cord ependymomas belong to rare tumours of the central nervous system. Their malignancy is usually low although anaplastic forms are known also to occur. Surgical treatment is the method of choice supplemented often with radiotherapy. An exceptionally rare form of ependymoma with two foci of origin in the spinal cord is reported. The large extent of the tumour caused that laminectomy at 15 levels was necessary. The mechanism of ependymoma development at two levels is discussed.

[A self-constructed device for reduction and stabilization of multi-fragmented fractures of the patella. Technical data and analysis of clinical material].

The author has presented the construction and use of his own device for reduction and stabilisation of multi-fragment fractures of the patella ("patella-clamp"). The device was examined in action first on cadavers and then introduced to clinical use. The use of the "patella-clamp" made possible to obtain better results in surgical treatment of multi-fragment fractures of the patella.

[Patellar fractures--an ever present problem in the knee joint pathology].

The ever present problem of patellar fracture in knee joint pathology is discussed. The pathological mechanism of fractures and methods of treatment are described. The clinical material comprised 102 cases of patellar fractures. The introduction of a new device for reposition of fractures gave better postoperative results.
