[Detection of A-P shunt by MR angiography].

Magnetic Resonance Angiography using a time-of-flight method was performed on two cases with arterial-portal shunting (A-P shunt). Each case was examined both with and without presaturation applied above the diaphragms. Signal intensity in the portal vein on these cases decreased with presaturation. This presaturation normally eliminates signal from inflowing spins in the artery but never effect on that in portal vein. Therefore the decrease of signal intensity in the portal vein with presaturation indicates the arterial inflow to the portal vein.

[Delayed eruption caused by non-ionic contrast material injection].

An investigation was conducted into the adverse reactions, especially delayed reactions, of non-ionic contrast media. Out of a total number of 3,411 people treated, there were 45 cases (1.32%) in which adverse reactions were observed, and of these 45 cases, 14 cases (0.41% of the total number) showed delayed adverse reactions. Of the aforesaid 14 patients with delayed adverse reactions, all of them developed skin eruptions, but no seriously adverse effects were eventually observed.

[Effectiveness of pharmacoangiography using nitroglycerin and angiotensin II].

An investigation of pharmacoangiography using a combination of nitroglycerin and angiotensin II demonstrated that it was useful due to the following reasons. First, good dilatation of the proximal portion of the arteries was demonstrated which enabled good clarity of the margin between the encasement and the normal portion of the arteries. Secondly, there was almost no change demonstrated in blood pressure immediately after administration. Thirdly, tumor vessels and intrapancreatic arteries were well recognized on the resulting images.

[A case of renal capillary hemangioma].

This is a case of a 18 year-old female with capillary hemangioma of the left kidney. This tumor forms a well-demarcated solid mass showing a low grade contrast enhancement on CT, an echogenic pattern on sonogram, and hypovascularity on angiography. The radiologic findings on this tumor have wide variations in the previously reported cases.

[Two cases of spontaneous pneumomediastinum in healthy young men].

We report two cases of spontaneous pneumomediastinum. Both were young males, and had no causal diseases or apparent precipitating episodes. Both recovered rapidly with bed rest only. Symptoms, signs, radiological diagnosis, and pathogenesis of pneumomediastinum are discussed.
