Croup.
Croup is an upper respiratory tract infection and is a common cause of hospital admission for children aged six months to three years. It is defined as inflammation and narrowing of the upper airway which results in hoarseness, cough and inspiratory stridor. Continual assessment for early detection of a deterioration in the child's condition is essential.
