[Alternate method for closure of oro-antral fistulas. Plastic covering of jaw opening with lyophilized Dura and alcoholic solution of Prolamin].

The operative closure of an oroantral fistula due to tooth extractions by the method of Rehrmann consists of various disadvantages, e.g. postoperative pain, swelling, flattening of the vestibulum and scar-tissue. Two alternative methods to close fresh oroantral fistulas without surgical intervention are described. By the use of prolamin occlusion gel or lyophilized dura these disadvantages can be avoided. Both techniques were successfully attempted on patients. The rate of failure is on both counts under 4%. Some indications limits must be strictly regarded. Both methods are really a good alternative to the usual operative procedure of Rehrmann and can easily be applied even on patients of great risk.

[Single support of atrophic edentulous mandible with endosseous implants. Modified method of implantation with Ledermann titanium plasma-coated screw implants (TPS)].

In contrast to the usual technique of Ledermann to implant four TPS-implants in edentulous mandibles a modified method with only two implants is described. The advantages of taking only two implants are the easier implantation technique, the lower costs, and especially a better dynamic of the full denture. In connection with a round bar most of the pressure produced by the masticatory muscles is taken by the mucosae and almost no eccentric forces effect on the implants. This technique should only be applied combined with a denture in the edentulous upper jaw. Strictly regarding the range of indications our rate of failure with two implants is not higher than with the usual method described by Ledermann.

[Simple mandibular bone cysts].

3 cases of simple bone cyst occurring in young adults are presented. Roentgenographic findings and criteria for diagnosis are explained. Rapid bony replacement of the cavity confirm the nonradical surgical intervention.

[Late results of conservative condylar fracture treatment].

116 patients with healed condylar fractures were investigated between a half and six years after the occurrence. 20 of them had pain in the joint, 19 of them showed a deviation of the mandible when opening the mouth. The margin distance of the incisors were 40.8 mm, in 5 cases less than 30 mm. The X-ray showed in 31 cases a dislocation of the fragments, in 6 cases a resorption of the proc. articularis. There was no correlation between pain, deviation, dislocation and the margin distance of the incisors. It is concluded that the anatomic exactly reposition of the fragments is not necessary for the undisturbed function of the temporomandibular joint.
