Cloning and characterization of a mouse cDNA encoding a cytoplasmic protein-tyrosine-phosphatase.

A mouse cDNA encoding a non-receptor-type phosphotyrosine phosphatase (PTP; EC 3.1.3.48) has been isolated. The 1570-base-pair cDNA contains a single open reading frame that predicts a 382-amino acid protein with Mr 44,640. The nucleic acid and amino acid sequences are homologous to those of a previously described human T-cell PTP [Cool, D. E., Tonks, N. K., Charbonneau, H., Walsh, K. A., Fischer, E. H. & Krebs, E. G. (1989) Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 86, 5257-5261]; however, the mouse and human 3' sequences diverge and predict markedly different protein carboxyl termini. The mouse PTP gene is expressed as a 1.9-kilobase message in several stages of murine embryonic development and in a variety of adult tissues. An additional 1.3-kilobase message was found to be expressed specifically in testes. Finally, we report the isolation of a human T-cell PTP cDNA containing a 3' end sequence homologous to the mouse PTP.

Age Factors

[Pneumonitis and fibrosis after primary radiotherapy and after combined treatment with chemotherapy in bronchogenic carcinomas].

36 patients with bronchial carcinoma treated in a randomized study were investigated for late reactions of lung tissue after radiotherapy combined with chemotherapy. The onset and extent of the lesions depended on the primary therapy. In the group of patients who received primary chemotherapy the first signs of radiation pneumonitis and fibrosis were seen earlier than in the group who underwent primary radiotherapy (70 days and 120 days respectively, and 170 days and 237 days respectively). The shrinkage of the lung tissue was greater after primary chemotherapy. However, secondary pneumonia in the irradiated lung volume occurred less frequently in the group who underwent chemotherapy first.

Carcinoma, Bronchogenic

[Computer tomography in acute pancreatitis (author's transl)].

The computer tomographic appearances of acute pancreatitis have been analysed 33 patients. It is usually a simple matter to distinguish between the acute, oedematous pancreatitis, which can be treated conservatively, and the suppurative pancreatitis with haemorrhagic and necrotising features, which require surgical exploration.

Pain in peripheral arteriography-a comparison of a low osmolality contrast medium with a conventional compound.

The pain reaction to a new low osmolality contrast agent, sodium-methyl-glucamine-ioxaglate, in comparison to the conventional compound methylglucamine-ioxitalamate was tested and statistically evaluated in 12 patients using the visual analogue scale method. The intensity of pain experienced was significantly smaller following intra-arterial injection of the compound of low osmolality as compared to the conventional contrast agent.
