[The dynamics of the metabolic and functional activities of the immunocompetent cells in mice following immunization with different vaccines against Q fever].

It was shown that the immunization of mice by the chemical Q fever vaccine prepared with the use of the strain "Coxiella burnetii, Nine Mile", phase I did not markedly activate the oxidative metabolism of the peritoneal exudate cells and did not induce the non-specific cytotoxicity in them. However, it resulted in a significant suppression of the mitogen-induced proliferation of splenocytes on days 3-5. The immunization of mice by the combined (corpuscular/chemical) vaccine prepared with the use of the strain "Apodemus flavicollis-Luga", phase I induced a significant activation of the oxidative metabolism of the peritoneal exudate cells and the development of the nonspecific cytotoxicity in them, whereas no suppression of the mitogen-induced proliferation of splenocytes was observed. The differences are likely associated with the presence of the corpuscular component in the combined vaccine and the strain antigenic specificity.

[An indirect solid-phase immunoenzyme method in diagnosing rickettsial infections].

Sera of Brill-Zinsser disease patients (70 samples) Q fever patients (12 samples) and healthy persons from Q fever enzootic areas (99 samples) were studied in indirect solid phase enzyme immunoassay (ELISA), indirect immunofluorescent antibody test (IFA) and indirect passive hemahglutination test. ELISA and IFA have been proved as most sensitive tests for detection of rickettsial antibodies in both clinical and retrospective diagnosis of Rickettsial diseases.

[Detection of antigen of rickettsia of the tick group in bird droppings by antibody neutralization test].

The author presents methodical materials pointing to a possibility of using a micromethod of the antibody neutralization test for detection in bird pellets of the antigen of rickettsia referred to the Rocky Mountains spotted fever tick group. Specificity of the test, rickettsia antigen and sera was studied. The method is recommended for detection at the territory under study of circulation of the causative agent of tick-borne rickettsiosis by revealing the specific antigen in bird pellets.

[Experimental latent typhus].

Asymptomatic typhus infection was regularly modelled in guinea pigs with increased resistance to Rickettsia prowazeki; this infection was characterized by the presence of immunological shifts in the blood and immunity to reinfection, persistenc of rickettsia in the organs of animals in the absence of pyretic reaction and periorchites. Modelling in guinea pigs of asymptomatic infection is also possible against the background of passive immunity created by specific immune serum obtained during convalescence. Investigations demonstrated that rickettsiocidal activity (in experiments on chick embryos) and antiinfectious activity (in experiments on guinea pigs) of the sera was caused by 7S-antibodies.
