[Treatment of the wounded and patients with acquired facial defects and deformations].

The authors describe the peculiarities of surgical treatment of 293 casualties with gunshot injuries and burns of maxillofacial area and 637 oncologic patients. The working classification of facial defects and deformations based on topographic-and-anatomic, morphological, functional and expert signs was developed 4 degrees of tissue lesions that are very important in the choice of rational treatment method were selected. Individual dental splints and method of formation combined round petiole consisted of arterialized musculocutaneous and dermatofatty parts were proposed. Long experience obtained in surgical treatment of patients with acquired facial defects and deformations permitted to reduce the treatment periods and to obtain good and satisfactory functional and cosmetic results in 95.3% of the cases.

[Experience in the treatment of mandibular condyle fractures at specialized military medical institutions].

The authors have generalized the experience of treatment of 82 injured with injuries of condylar processus fracture treatment of the lower jaw. By a surgical way were successfully eliminated posttraumatic ankylosis and contracture of temporomandibular articulations with use of titanium endoprosthesis and semi-joints. The osteosynthesis of condylar processus of the lower jaw by titanium miniplates and screws was also practiced.

[Historical stages in the development of maxillofacial surgery and stomatology at the N. N. Burdenko Main Military Clinical Hospital].

The principal trends in the development of stomatological service of the N. N. Burdenko hospital from its foundation in 1707 up to the present time are presented. The first operations on patients with orodental diseases were described in 1710 by the first head of the hospital N. A. Bidloo. Wars had a great impact on the development of methods of therapeutic and surgical dental care. Original methods of treatment and rehabilitation of patients have been developed. At present modern methods of specialized care are used, based on integration and computer analysis, use of automated systems for the collection and processing of information, and up-to-date treatment and diagnostic equipment.

[Variants in using the tubed pedicle in restorative operations on the face and the organs of the oral cavity].

This article is based on 83 histories (89% male, 11% female) of patients who were operated for penetrating or superficial maxillofacial defects and deformations. 293 step-by-step operations were conducted using the bucket-handle graft in combination with nearest tissues. Age of patients: from 18 to 65. The Filatov-Gillies tubed pedicle was used as a carrier for hair-covering chin grafts which were implanted into de-epidermized zones during the formation of eyebrows in supraorbital areas. Bucket-handle graft was also used for reconstruction of lips, including vermillion border. The article contains the history and a photo of a woman who was operated for basaloma of nose and upper lip. After the destruction of a new growth by cryogenic method the plasty of upper lip and vermillion border was carried out with the help of one Filatov-Gillies tubed pedicle. The healing of wounds have proceeded without complications in 93.9 +/- 1.4% of cases. In 2 patients a partial necrosis of graft took place. One graft was removed. The divergence of stitches was marked in 15 (18%) of patients. Nevertheless it did not influence upon the outcome of reconstructive treatment.
