[Food sensitization and recurrence frequency in patients with chronic gastric erosions].

Besides well-known pathogenetic factors of chronic gastric erosions (CGE), sensitization to alimentary, communal, and infectious allergens and antigens contributes to development of relapses of this condition. Moderately high and high levels of specific IgE and significant increases in the total IgE level were detected in patients with CGE relapses in comparison with the controls. Patients with CGE develop secondary immunodeficiency, which was confirmed by insufficient production of serum IgA during disease exacerbations. The sensitization status in CGE patients persists during remissions It is characterized by moderate levels of specific IgE, indicating chronic transformation of the process.

[The immunological diagnosis of tuberculosis].

On the basis of literature review the article makes an appreciation of various methods for tuberculosis serological diagnostics. The authors mark a high information level of immunofermental analysis (IFA). 126 tuberculosis patients, 122 patients with non-tuberculosis etiology and 410 donors were examined with the aid of IFA (phosphide antigen). The min. diagnostic titer in pulmonary tuberculosis is 1:320, in nonpulmonary--1:160. The max. antigen titers in IFA (optical density unit of measurement) were in the cases of disseminated tuberculosis 1.32 0.12; the min.--in uterine tube tuberculosis--0.92 0.08. The titers of donors were 0.20 0.03, and of patients with non-tuberculosis diseases--0.25 0.04. IFA is recommended for practical application in tuberculosis and infectious clinics.

[The significance of the O antigen for the diagnosis of acute Sonne dysentery].

The authors investigated the clinical importance of determination of the O-antigen in coprofiltrates of patients with acute Sonne dysentery by means of immunoenzymatic analysis. It was found that use of immunoenzymatic analysis is justified for etiological diagnosis of dysentery as well as with the purpose of forecasting recurrence of the disease.

[A method for determining specific circulating immune complexes in patients with acute Sonne dysentery].

The antigen-specific method for the determination of specific immune complexes in the blood serum of patients with acute Sonne dysentery has been developed on the basis of the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay with the use of reagents manufactured in the USSR. The possibility of the early prognostication of prolonged carrier state by using the proposed method for the determination of the level of specific circulating immune complexes has been shown.

[Use of solid-phase immunoenzyme analysis for the serodiagnosis of pseudotuberculosis].

The diagnostic test system based on the solid-phase enzyme immunoassay (EIA) for the detection of antibodies to Yersinia pseudotuberculosis in the sera of patients with the use of Soviet-made preparations and reagents has been developed. The test has been performed in microchambers for immunological reactions, thus making it possible to decrease the consumption of reagents 10-20 times in comparison with the traditional technique with the use of plates. The results of the titration of 42 sera in EIA and in the passive hemagglutination test (PHAT) are indicative of the presence of positive correlation (r = 0.78; p less than 0.05) between antibody titers in EIA and PHAT. A fourfold or greater increase in antibody titers has been determined by means of EIA in 80% of cases and with the use of PHAT in 55% of cases. The minimum diagnostic titer yielded by EIA has been determined: 1:256.

[Micromethod of determining phosphatase activity of staphylococci].

A rapid method for measuring phosphatase activity of staphylococci has been developed. Russian 96-well polystyrene plates are used. 0.1 ml of 0.2% sodium phenolphthalein phosphate solution in 1% peptone water, pH 6.8 to 7.0, and 0.1 ml of the tested strain suspension in normal saline are put into wells and incubated for 5 h at 37 degrees C. The results are assessed after adding 0.05 ml of 2.5% ammonia spirit into each well. If the result is positive, the medium is colored raspberry-red, if negative-light-yellow. The method is simple, available, and cheap.
