[Reflexotherapy in neuralgias of the trigeminal nerve].

Acupuncture was used in 82 patients with trigeminal neuralgila. In 17 patients trigeminal neuralgia was predominantly of the central and in 65 of the peripheral genesis. Selection of points for acupuncture was based on the findings about electrical conductivity of symmetrical acupuncture points on the patient's face. The study has shown that the method of acupuncture in patients with trigeminal neuralgia should be used differentially. It is effective only in patients with peripheral trigeminal neuralgia.

[Indices of thrombocyte conductance and permeability in microwave fields in ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke patients].

The authors examined 48 patients with hemorrhagic and 72 with ischemic strokes as well as 29 patients of the control group. The study of conduction (rho) and complex relative dielectric permeability (CRDP) of red blood cells and platelets with the help of the Soviet apparatus RIP-10 showed that in the control group, the CRDP was 24.3 +/- 0.2 relative units and rho was 35.1 +/- 0.2 cm. In patients with hemorrhagic strokes, there was a sharp increase of rho (up to 100-112) and CRDP (up to 32-40 relative units). In patients with ischemic strokes, the CRDP and rho also differed from the control data constituting 14-20 relative units and 40-80 cm, respectively. Correlation between the biophysical and the clinical data helped to differentiate between hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes with a sufficient degree of accuracy.

[Comparative evaluation of the diagnostic possibilities of radioisotope angiography and rheoencephalography in patients with vascular diseases of the brain].

Forty-one patients with dyscirculatory encephalopathy complicated by a transient impairment of the cerebral circulation were examined in a neurological department. A comparative analysis of the findings obtained during comprehensive study of the cerebral circulation showed that in the overwhelming majority of cases (37 out of 41), the results of isotope angiography and rheography coincided and corresponded to the clinical findings. To a certain degree these methods complemented each other: rheoencephalography was more informative in the diagnosis of cerebral atherosclerosis and essential hypertension while radioisotope angiography allowed a more accurate determination of the area affected.

[Odontogenic trigeminal neuralgia].

On the basis of examining 65 patients in whom neuralgia of the trigeminal nerve was associated with pathology of the dento-maxillary system, the authors have developed differential diagnostic criteria and the pathogenetically substantiated treatment of odontogenic neuralgia of the trigeminal nerve.

[Diagnosis of lesions of the ilioinguinal nerve using clinical and electromyographic methods].

On the basis of a study of 11 normals and 19 patients, the clinical and EMG features of iloinguinal nerve lesions are described. In lesions of this nerve there are EMG changes in the internal oblique abdominal muscles, which indicate an involvement into the pathological process of not only of the nerve conductors, but central structures. The EMG method may be recommended as a supplementary one for detecting subclinical forms of the disease, clarification of the diagnosis and determination of the degree of nerve lesions.

[Electroencephalography in children with malignant neoplasms of the internal organ and support-motor apparatus].

A neurological examination of 120 patients with malignant newgrowths of a different localization and histological structure was conducted. Neurological changes due to lesions of the central and peripheral nervous systems were revealed. With the aid of EEG studies and subsequent clinico-EEG correlations 29 patients were examined. The conclusion is made that EEG studies of malformations in children allow to detect subclinical forms of brain lesions. In most of the cases there was an inadequacy between the slightly expressed cerebral symptomatology and crude changes of the EEG. The changed EEG was especially marked in primary cancer of the liver, also with normalization of the EEG in the development of positive dynamics of the main disease. The studies conducted indicate the significance of EEG in receiving thorough characteristics of the neurological changes in malignant tumors.

[Significance of the hypertensive syndrome in the clinical aspects of the late residual stage of infantile cerebral palsy (based on ultrasonic encephalographic data)].

The report is concerned with an analysis of the results of an echoencphalographic study of 201 children with infantile cerebral paralysis in the form of spastic diplegia. The examined children were from 3-14 years with different degrees of motor disturbances and intellectual defects. The echoencephalograms in 22% of the cases detected a displacement of M-echo to 2 mm and more. In 20%--there were signs of a light dilatation of the III brain ventricle and in 41%--of moderate dilatation. A correlation of echoencephalographic data with clinical symptoms demonstrated that a displacement of M-echo signs of a dilation of the III ventricle are more frequently encountered in children with a more severe motor and intellectual deficiency. The authors studied the influence of a comprehensive treatment (medicamental therapy, therapeutic physical training, corrective training, physical and mental loadings on the liquorodynamic disbalance. The study demonstrates the informativeness of the echoencephalographic method not only in the detection of the hypertensive syndrome, but in defining the degree of its expressiveness and during the development of the hypertenensive syndrome under the influence of different therapeutical measures.
