[Proteases and their inhibitors in patients with benign ovarian tumors].

Activities of neutral and weakly alkaline proteases, cathepsins, alpha 1-inhibitor of proteases were studied with simultaneous estimation of follicle stimulating, luteinizing hormones and progesterone in healthy persons and in patients with ovary benign tumors. A decrease in content of the peptide hormones was accompanied by an increase in proteolytic activity as well as by deterioration of these proteases ratio during various phases of the cycle; these alterations appear to be involved in pathogenesis of the disease.

[Elastase and its inhibitors in the pathogenesis of benign ovarian tumors].

Activities of elastase and its inhibitors were studied in blood serum and tissues of patients with ovary benign tumors. Two peaks of the enzyme activation were detected during the menstrual cycle: at periovulatory period and at the second step of the cycle. In blood serum and tissues of the patients a decrease in the elastase activity was found, which was most distinct in papillary and mucinosis tumors. These alterations in the elastase activity appears to be responsible for impairments in the blood vessel wall structure, which may limit in penetration of estrogens into circulation and cause prolongation of effects of steroids on ovary tissue.

[The effect of local decompression on ovarian function in women operated on for benign epithelial tumors of the ovaries].

Mathematical modelling led the authors to the conclusion that local abdominal-vaginal decompression in females operated on for BETO contributes to recovery of functional relations between hormone production by the ovaries, protease-protease inhibitors system, vascular system of the ovaries. It is the impairment of this relationship that is responsible for postoperative complications. Local decompression is recommended as a beneficial physical factor in combined rehabilitation of BETO females.
