[Additional potentialities of using blood cell characteristics for diagnosis of nonspecific ulcerative colitis].

The potentialities of increasing the resolving capacity of standard hematological parameters used for the diagnosis of chronic nonspecific ulcerative colitis were investigated. The mean volume of erythrocytes decreases and the shape of population erythrogram is modified in this disease. White blood is characterized by qualitative changes (mean cell volume and parameters of its distribution for neutrophils lymphocytes, and monocytes). Consideration for the corpuscular volume of these cells helps differentiate between slight, medium, and severe chronic nonspecific ulcerative colitis.

[Effect of strophanthin on the electrophoretic mobility of blood erythrocytes in adults and children].

As assessed by changes in the erythrograms asymmetry coefficient, selectivity of the strophantin effect on cell populations with different mobility and age specifics of reciprocal responses, was revealed in adult subjects and in children. The data obtained suggest existence of difference in quality of functional condition of the erythrocytes with normal as well as reduced mobility in children and in adults.

[Dependence of the size of leukocytes on their number in human blood].

An interaction was shown to exist among the quantities of neutrophiles, lympho- and monocytes in circulation and characteristics of their corpuscular volume. The correlation embraces all the leukocyte classes, being apparent in indices of separate classes as well as on the intertype level. Such a co-ordination is involved in maintenance of the normal microcirculation level and manifested in a series of intra- and intertype correlations of relative content and parameters of the corpuscular volume distribution of the cells.

[Relations between number and volume of erythrocytes and leukocytes in the human blood].

Total concentration of erythrocytes and leukocytes, a relative contents of neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, average volume of these types of cells, were determined in humans. Changes in the cell indices seem to be correlated and sex-dependent. Thus, erythrocytes and leukocytes are correlated in their contents and volume characteristics. A control mechanism seems to exist in humans, involving microcirculation in capillaries.

Relationship between erythrocyte count and volume in humans and rats.

The mean corpuscular volume and concentration of blood erythrocytes in intact male rats are inversely related in the entire fluctuations range. In healthy men and women the correlation between these parameters is described by a parabola with alternating zones of positive and negative relationships. These covariations are unstable; in disease they change and sometimes are transformed into monotonous reciprocal correlations.

[Electrophoretic mobility and oxidizing status of rat blood erythrocytes at scald trauma].

On model of scald trauma the correlation of electrophoretic mobility of rat blood erythrocytes with intensity of lipid oxidation of erythrocyte membranes and with activity of catalase were studied. It is shown that in dynamics of scald disease development the erythrocyte mobility decreases, the velocity of oxidizing ability of their lipids increases and the protective action of blood antioxidation system is blocked. It is found that there is a close dependence between the level of oxidative processes and electrogenic properties of erythrocytes at the height of manifestation of scald toxaemia. A conclusion was made that the oppressing influence of increasing lipid oxidizing ability a on electrokinetic potential of erythrocytes is of a threshold nature and is realized through change in the membranes' state of these cells.

[Sex differences in the electrokinetic properties of the erythrocytes in normal children and in iron-deficiency anemia].

The electrophoretic mobility of children blood erythrocytes in norm and with iron-deficiency anemia was studied. The age peculiarities and sex specificity of this index was revealed, demonstrated chiefly by dynamics of shape of its distribution curve reflecting a ratio of cell subpopulations with different electrokinetic potential. The state of anemia is accompanied with modification of histogram profiles of both individual and group cell mobility, with patterns of changes also depending on the child sex. The obtained data suggest that at children iron-deficiency anemia the structure or functional status of erythrocyte membrane are changed, but the pathological process does not eventually involve all the populations of circulating erythrocytes.

[The mechanisms of changes in erythrocyte electrophoretic mobility in nephropathology].

A correlation between erythrocyte electrophoretic mobility (EEM) and a complex of clinico-biochemical indices in the blood of patients with chronic pyelo- and glomerulonephritis was studied. It is established that the EEM homeostasis as a whole, comes to the redistribution of cell subpopulation parts with high and low mobility. For keeping stability of EEM, of great significance in the control patients is the total protein content in the plasma, whereas in patients with kidney pathology of primary importance is the level of neutrophils.

[The electrophoretic mobility of the erythrocytes in rats during body adaptation to low-temperature exposure].

The action of a low temperature (-4 degrees C) on electrophoretic mobility of rat blood erythrocytes (EME) was studied. The stress provoked by the low temperature renders a considerable influence on EM of erythrocytes, but the degree and disposition of arising changes depend on the duration of temperature coercion. Two weeks after conducting cooling seances (beginning with 15 min, with an every day increase in exposition by 10 min), the response reaction was manifested in the rise of asymmetry and excess of distribution curve of EME index. The prolongation of cold adaptation to 6 weeks was accompanied with the authentic lowering of the mean mobility of cells, in addition to a subsequent sharp modification of erythrogram profile. The cooling of animals conducted against the background of thyreoidine has given, as a whole, similar results, although the use of the protector alleviated the consequences of low temperature coercion.

[The control mechanisms of the electrokinetic properties of human erythrocytes in emotional stress].

A study was made of the influence of psycho-emotional strain, experienced by students when taking examinations, on the erythrocyte electrophoretic mobility (EPM). It has been shown that students under psycho-emotional strain the mean value of EPM remains the same, but changes were observed in the form of EPM distribution, while estimated by asymmetry and excession coefficients. Similar results were obtained when adrenalin was added to the blood.

[Effect of combined irradiation and hyperthermia on the creatine kinase activity of rat tissues].

Effects of heating (36 degrees, relative air humidity 80-90%, 4 hours) and joint beta (85Kr)-X-ray-irradiation of rats, given separately and simultaneously, in doses 2.5 krad+ + 25 r, 2.5 krad + 50 r, 3.05 krad + 100 r, 4.45 krad + 250 r, 7.4 krad + 400 r on creatine kinase activity in brain and liver were investigated 5, 12, 19 and 26 days after the exposure. It was discovered that the state of thermal stress reduced radiosensitiveness of enzymatic activity in brain and burdened the consequences of irradiation when tested by the liver activity.
